The Girl
Hi new readers or anyone else who may be stopping by!
Just a quick FYI to let you know the description below is quite outdated. It’s on my to-do list to update this page but until then you can read THIS POST for a more recent synopsis on who the girl behind this blog is.
So nice to e-meet you! I hope you’ll stick around and read along with me
On the Girl
Hi! I’m Amber and I’m 22 years old. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love to travel, run and train for races and blog!

Currently, I live in Kamloops B.C. with my cat, Webster, and my boyfriend of 5.5-years, Eric.
Eric and I have been in a mostly long distance relationship for almost four years! In August 2010, Eric quit his job that had him living 1,000 km away and moved back in with me and Webster. Awwww! ![]()

In the Spring of 2010 I graduated from Thompson Rivers University with a Bachelor of Journalism and a major in Public Relations.
After finishing school Eric and I spent three weeks backpacking around Europe and had the time of our lives! You can read more about my amazing trip here.
I adore traveling and cannot wait until I can go abroad again. In the meantime, I try to satisfy my traveling urge by taking roadtrips around my own province and country. You can read about my travels here.

Now, I am working at my first post-university job and starting a career in PR and Marketing. I also do freelance writing on the side.

I have always been active: I grew up playing team sports like volleyball, baseball and hockey. But I knew nothing about healthy eating.
When I moved away to college my metabolism caught up with me and I gained 20 pounds within the first year.
In January 2008, I changed my lifestyle around. I started making healthy choices and recording my food intake and made a conscious effort to workout on a regular basis. In six months I lost 25 pounds (before and after photos here) and healthy living has become a large part of my day-to-day life.
A year later, in January of 2009 I started running and I have since trained for and ran three half-marathons and one full marathon as well as a handful of other races. The Race Recaps section has the race reports of all my races. I ran my first full marathon in October 2010 and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.
In May 2010, I became a pesco-vegetarian after reading Eating Animals, I eat fish and seafood about 2-3 times per month mostly in the form of SUSHI! I have never felt better since I stopped eating poultry, beef and pork. I feel strong and healthy and have had no problem maintaining a healthy meat-less diet while training for my first marathon.

Healthy living and blogging are two of my favourite things and biggest passions. The two things combined have completely changed my life in the last two years.
Blogging has absolutely, 100% changed my life.
On “The Girl with the Red Hair”
I was unsure of what to name my new blog and I thought about it for weeks.
Then the idea came to me. Throughout my life I’ve been a lot of things; a hockey player, a swimmer, a friend, a daughter, a sister, a girlfriend, a student, a lifeguard, a waitress, a writer, a foodie, a blogger, a runner, a reader. Some of these things have remained constant, some have changed, one thing I’ve always been is “The Girl with the Red Hair.”

I chose that title because this blog is about me, and my life and I feel like it’s a name that will be relevant to me as my life changes and morphs over time.
This blog is about my life, my likes, my dislikes and topics I’ve been pondering. I don’t limit the content on my blog in anyway but I tend to write a lot about running, yoga and healthy living as those are a huge aspect of my life!
I hope you enjoy my blog!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or just to say “hi”!
