Final fling before the ring!
Several months ago I handed over all planning power of both my bridal shower and my bachelorette party to MOH Michele and bridesmaid Jen respectively. I had an amazing bridal shower thrown for me back at Christmas time and then hadn’t really heard much about the bachelorette party.
I spent all day Saturday in a strategic planning session for work and then my friend Robyn, who was visiting me from Calgary this weekend, picked me up and we went out for Mojito’s! I had been looking forward to having dinner with Robyn and a few of my girlfriends from around here on Saturday night but all of them “canceled” at the last minute. Heh.
Anyways, I came home from having drinks with Robyn to see Jen’s car in the driveway and then walked up the stairs into our house to 9 girlfriends in running gear, marathon numbers and wigs on yelling “SURPRISE!”

I was told to go upstairs and put on running clothes and was then provided with a mandatory wig and t-shirt to wear.

The running clothes/marathon/wig-theme was seriously SO AWESOME and FUN!

There was 11 of us total and you never would have guessed that most of these girls didn’t even know each other very well, most of them are all friends of mine from different aspects of my life. But everyone got along wonderfully!

After I got over my initial shock (and had a few shots) we headed downtown for the best part of the whole night: A SCAVENGER HUNT! Let me just say that scavenger hunts are the best thing ever. So fun! Especially as a party game at a party where not everyone knows one another very well! We were split into two teams…

…and sent off with a list of things to get – mostly things we had to take photos of.
Like girls planking.

Yoga poses.

A photo on the back of a Harley.

And some things that were a little too inappropriate for the blog
It was a bachelorette party after all! Our team lost unfortunately. Probably because we got distracted by cute puppies during the hunt!

Then we all met up at a pub for more drinks, some food and lots of laughs before heading out dancing at the bar, something I hadn’t done in over two years!

It was SUCH A FUN NIGHT! Jen did an amazing job planning a party that was totally ME. I adored the marathon/running theme and let me say wearing running clothes to the bar is the best idea ever! So comfortable for a night of running around town and dancing. My friends are the best and totally spoiled me. Every time I turned around there was a shot or a drink in front of me. Sunday was definitely a hugeeee write-off.
Thank you again to all my fabulous friends who came out on Saturday!

Questions of the day: What did you do for your bachelorette party? Have you ever had a surprise party thrown for you? I’ve never had one thrown for me before, this was so great!
Long Weekend

I’ve been so tired lately but four days off of work with no real plans was just what the doctor ordered. I wouldn’t call the weekend relaxing necessarily as it was very go-go-go, but it was certainly rejuvenating!
Here are a few pictures from my weekend…
I started the long weekend off with my first trail run in ages. I was treated to amazing views coupled with some brutal hill climbing that made me really miss trail running. I can’t wait to get back into it after the marathon! And the beautiful sunshine stuck around every day this weekend. It made me so happy! I even got a bit of a sunburn on my cheeks during my long run on Sunday.

Eric and I (mostly Eric) also got to work on our backyard reno’s. He ripped up our old deck and we purchased all the lumber for a new deck and fence. Eric also painted the new boards last night. All that’s left is actually building the deck and fence! We are just waiting on a waiver from our strata corporation before we start. I can’t wait to have a fully fenced in yard and big new deck for grilling on this summer – we’re going from an 8 x 10 deck to an 11 x 12 one!

Spring cleaning also happened (again mostly by Eric!) Here is Chloe watching him clean out our storage room. She was too lazy to stand there so sat her butt down on the top step of the stairs. Haha.

Sunday morning I got in a killer 18 mile (29 km) run on a GORGEOUS new trail. More on that in tomorrow’s week 14 recap!
My grandparents have been here camping on there way back from spending the winter in Arizona so my grandma made us an amazing Easter feast on Sunday. It consisted of cabbage rolls (veg for me), mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy, coleslaw, brussel sprouts and cheese sauce, roasted carrots, fresh buns and lemon meringue, apple pie and ice cream for dessert!

Our freezer is also now full of frozen cabbage rolls so Eric and I will eat well for the next few weeks.
I ended my long weekend by spending yesterday morning in bed reading blogs and doing some wedding research and then in the afternoon I went for a hike with Bronwyn and Chloe, to a hot power yoga class and for coffee with Meghan. When I got home I helped Eric make dinner for my grandparents; handmade pasta with shrimp and prawns in an alfredo sauce. Also to die for delicious.
Oh, and for the first time in weeks there are not piles and piles of clean and dirty laundry. It is all clean, folded and put away.
Yup, a 4-day weekend at home was just what I needed!
How was your weekend? Did anyone else have a long weekend for Easter?
Currently
Borrowing Lisa’s post idea from yesterday about what’s currently on my mind in bullet form…
Currently I’m…
- Not able to find the time, or energy, to write blog posts in the evening and schedule them for the next morning. Back to posting at random times it is.
- So, so, SO happy that today is my Friday and SO ready for a 4-day weekend.
- Very happy and excited that my grandparents are here for the Easter weekend. Very much looking forward to spending some time with them.
- Crossing my fingers and toes that I’m not injured. My left calf tightened up significantly after speedwork at the track last night. It was so tight I almost cried when I stepped out of bed this morning. Going to an early morning hot yoga class helped it a little but I’m off to the chiro for some ART in a couple of hours as well, just to be on the safe side.
- Ready for so many things to just be here already; the marathon, the wedding, our honeymoon, summer.
- Trying really hard to savour the little moments and the journey more.
- Still tired. But also really happy and content.
What would your list be starting with “Currently I’m…” ?
