Today I love (5)
This blog post is part of Caitlin’s change the way you see, not the way you look week.

As part of change the way you see, not the way you look week I am going to post a picture of something that I love about myself and/or my body every day this week.
Whoops, I’m a little late posting today!
Yesterday, Meghan wrote this great post on how she hasn’t always been as confident as she is now. It really resonated with me.
I was this self-conscious, unhappy little girl in middle school, high school and into college. I definitely dealt with negative self-image as I was teased for being “fat” on a regular basis when I was in middle school.
I remember all I wanted was to be thin. I went on so many “diets” and I used to cut pictures out of magazines and paste them in a notebook. I wanted to look like the girls in the magazines!
At one point, I actually thought that most people looked like those girls in the magazines. How warped is that? That’s another major problem. The kind of women we are seeing in the media and magazines when we are young and impressionable are totally warping our sense of what is real.
I think that negative self-talk and negative self-image can be crushing for a person, no matter what age. High school and middle school can be a hard age for most kids. You’re trying to figure out who you are and, let’s face it, kids are mean.
But it doesn’t have to be like that. And that’s what the Operation Beautiful movement is all about. It starts with us. We need to stop negative self-talk and fat-talk.
So, today, here’s my note for you readers. And please believe it, because it’s true!!
And, I have a new fun challenge for the last day of Operation Beautiful week.
Rather than post something that you love about yourself in the comments, I want you to post a compliment to the commenter above you. (You can post something you love about yourself, too if you want!) I know a lot of my readers also read each others blogs, so it might be a blogger you know. If not, take a few minutes to pop over to their blog, look around and then leave a compliment!
I think that leaving nice notes for each other is a fun way to spend a Friday, don’t you!?
Happy Friday, readers! You are all amazing and beautiful! XO

Confession: I had A LOT of trouble coming up with a third thing I love. Isn’t that sad? It shouldn’t be that hard to come up with five things you love about yourself, should it!!?
This one might be a little lame – but today I decided I’m going to love my red hair!
Considering my entire blog identity is centred around it, you might be surprised to know that I hated being a redhead when I was growing up. I didn’t like being the odd one out and I actually used to dream of being a blonde and would beg my mom to let me dye my hair blonde when I was a kid (she wouldn’t).
Now, I really like my red hair and the fact that it *kind of* defines me and is used to describe me a lot!
OK, your turn! What do you love about yourself TODAY!? Anyone else finding it a *little* challenging to come up with a different thing every day? Why is that!?

This blog post is part of Caitlin’s change the way you see, not the way you look week. Her new book, Operation Beautiful, hit shelves tomorrow! I cannot wait to buy it, it’s such an amazing movement and I like the idea of supporting bloggers turned authors!

It might be a stand-alone blog post, like today, or it might be part of another blog post.
My freckles have popped this summer from all the time I spend outside running. Something I used to hate has become something I love. They represent all the time I spend outside running, biking and being healthy.
Today I love my freckles.

I challenge you to look in the mirror and tell me one thing that you love about yourself today?
Be confident. Change the way you SEE yourself, not the way you look.
