Better late than never with my TGIF post! I didn’t get home until 10pm last night so just did not have it in me to write it last night.

The high of my week was attending a fun sign painting class last night with my mom. I signed us up for this class as a birthday present to her back in August. I made the below sign for Baby H’s nursery 🙂 The top lettering is a little crooked, but other than that I’m super happy with how it turned out!

The low of my week was definitely discovering that our sewer had backed up on Wednesday night. 20 minutes before I was going to leave to go to prenatal yoga. Suffice to say, yoga didn’t happen, I had a mostly sleepless night on Wednesday night thinking about it, had to deal with the plumbers and restoration company on Thursday morning. We are SO LUCKY that it was contained to our crawl space and did not get into the finished part of our basement. The restoration company said we’d be better off cleaning it ourselves vs. making an insurance claim because it really is only cleaning up / disinfecting the cement and taking out a few pieces of drywall. My amazing husband spent most of yesterday getting it all cleaned up. It was pretty gross, so I give him huge huge props for that but ya that one thing happening made this entire week very very shitty (literally!)

A podcast episode I loved was The Lazy Genius Cleans the Kitchen. I just started listening to this podcast and I really like that the episodes are only 20 or so minutes long. I find my podcast tastes have really changed over time. For awhile I was into more true crime, investigative podcasts then for awhile I was really into political podcasts, now I find I gravitate towards podcasts that are really casual (prefer no ads for sure!) and I love ones that are just two people talking. I also like listening to ones about parenting, home life, cosyness etc. I guess it’s that nesting stage of life I’m in 🙂

For my workouts, I completed I am teaching bootcamp twice a week from 6:15 – 7am so I taught that on both Tuesday and Thursday! I will share some of the bootcamp workouts we do in a future blog post. I obviously modify A LOT, and spend a lot of time just walking around the class correcting form etc. I get most of my inspiration for workouts from Fitness Blender and Peanut Butter Runner. Some people think it’s strange I started teaching a bootcamp class at 32 weeks pregnant (and will be 37 weeks when it’s done!) but it was a good opportunity I didn’t want to pass up as I’d like to take on teaching more classes while on maternity leave. I wasn’t able to make it to yoga at all this week, so that is all I did for workouts. I also went for a walk with my friend one day.

The best money I spent was on, I actually can’t think of anything in particular I spent money on this week that was ‘well spent’. Ha. I bought coffee out a few times. I buy coffee out wayyy more these days because I only have one cup a day and it feels like a waste to make it at home sometimes.

My plans this weekend include tomorrow morning I am going to go to yoga at 10am and then I’m planning on spending tomorrow getting our office organized (there are currently books ALL over the floor as we just got a book shelf a couple weeks ago) and washing and putting away ALL the baby laundry. Eric is on night shift so will be sleeping and I have a long queue of podcasts to catch up on while doing this.  Friday night I’m actually signed up to do a 5km charity walk with my friend Janine, but right now it’s calling for rain and I *might* bail based on weather. Sunday some lovely blog friends are hosting a virtual baby shower for me through Google Hangouts in the afternoon, and other than that I just plan to lay low and rest/relax around the house. Might borrow a tip from my friend Lisa and make it a ‘shouldless day’ as the following weekend is Eric’s weekend off / Thanksgiving so I know it will be a busy one.

I don’t usually like to dwell on the negative… but tell me the low of your week to make me feel better about my literal shitty week 😉 Also, what are your plans for this weekend?

The high of my week was / is having Eric home. He is on days off right now before going back on a long 14 day long night shift. The night shifts are the worst because we are passing ships in the night, so I’m soaking up all the extra time with him this week while I can.

The low of my week was not sleeping well, which I’m sure is just going to be the story of my life for the next 3 or so years. Ha. I’m at that point of pregnancy (almost 32 weeks) where by the end of the day I feel really big and my back is also killing me. I have been going to the chiropractor and/or getting massages weekly to try and help but it’s still been bothering me a lot. I honestly cannot really fathom how this belly is going to grow for another 8+ weeks (being my first baby, likely 10ish more weeks). I seriously feel SO BIG by the end of the day now.

A podcast episode I loved was One Crazy Summer by Matrimoney – I started listening to this since one of the co-hosts is Kelsey from The Girl Next Door. It’s fun to listen to a husband and wife talk about money and finances! I also enjoyed my other favourite husband and wife podcast, Young House Love Has a Podcast and their episode about money.

For my workouts, I completed a Fitness Blender workout (Fun Upper Body Workout) on Monday, prenatal yoga on Tuesday, another Fitness Blender workout (At home butt & thigh workout) on Wednesday, rest on Thursday and today I’m doing another Fitness Blender workout. I really miss the pool right now and can’t wait for it to open again on October 1!!

The best money I spent was on booking our prenatal sessions with a doula and on our maternity photos (which as you can see the sneak peek is sprinkled throughout this post!) It was an expensive week as those two things combined cost over $500, but so worth it 🙂

My plans this weekend include Saturday afternoon I am flying down to Kamloops, arriving that night and then spending Saturday – Tuesday at my mom’s lake place before we drive back up north together. On Sunday, I have my first baby shower with all of my wonderful friends down there – I cannot wait to see everyone and am so grateful I have such an amazing group of friends who are like family in my 2nd home to celebrate Baby H with <3

What podcast episode did you love this week and what was the best money you spent?

The high of my week was picking the above harvest from my garden! Gardening has been such a fun and rewarding hobby this summer. Now I just need to figure out what to do with the squash! Any suggestions??

The low of my week was a few things… Honestly, it hasn’t been the best week. Some work stuff has been weighing on me, my back has been really sore and I haven’t been sleeping well and have felt really tired and low energy this week. So ya, not my best week ever… BUT next week is Eric’s week off and I’m on holidays. We’re going fishing and camping with family in the mountains and I’m really looking forward to it!

A podcast episode I loved was yet another old Girls Next Door episode! This podcast has been around since 2014 and I am listening to ALL their episodes since the beginning (I love binge listening to podcasts as much as I love binge watching TV shows!) I loved both this episode about cleaning and this episode about marriage. Both are from 2015!

For my workouts, I completed a gentle yoga class on Monday evening, this cardio interval Fitness Blender workout on Tuesday morning, a 30-minute swim on Wednesday morning, rest day on Thursday and today I am going to my favourite 6:15am yoga class! Not the best week of workouts, but I will do 1-2 more Fitness Blender workouts this weekend. Oh, and of course I walked 10,000+ steps each day as I’m still going strong on my 10k steps per day!

The best money I spent was putting money in savings! Ha! How boring, right?! But in actuality, I really didn’t spend any money this week but I did get paid and every time I get paid I immediately put a chunk in savings – feels good to pay myself first! Especially since during my year of maternity leave I will pretty much have to cut out savings to make our budget work. Also we will spend plenty of money next week while away. Camping is always more expensive than you think it will be!

My plans this weekend include going to yoga, mowing the lawn, doing laundry and packing for our trip next week. We are leaving on Monday morning as soon as Eric gets off his night shift. Since he’ll be working all weekend, it will be up to me to get ready for our trip! I am also hoping to get some decent sleep in as I’ve been really tired lately. I’m guessing that’s just going to be par for the course though as I move into the third trimester of pregnancy…

What did you complete for workouts last week and what was the best thing you spent money on?
