Quick Five on Friday
Hi everyone, I know I’ve been pretty absent on general life posts lately so here’s a quick five on Friday with some updates for you
I am writing this from bed. Ahhh, three-day weekends complete me!
Two.
Yesterday was my last day at my job. It was definitely a very bittersweet day. I had coffee with all my co-workers and boss in the morning and my boss said some really kind words and then they gave me a gift card to the spa. Clearing off and out my desk (above) was pretty sad too. It was definitely hard to leave such a great group of people to work with!
Three.
This has been the weirdest winter ever. Just when I think spring might actually be here I wake up to a huge dump of snow (read: this morning). I don’t hate the snow but I am kind of over it. At least it’s good for snowboarding (what Eric and I will be doing tomorrow) but it’s so not good for running which is why I’m still laying in bed instead of out running 3 miles right now.We had the most amazing December and January with spring-like weather and now February keeps dumping snow. Dislike.
Four.
Chloe got spayed on Tuesday. It was coincidental that it coincided with this but now I kind of hope she always associates chewing up things with going to the vet
Anyways, she’s been running around with a cone on her head for the last three days and it’s kind of hilarious!
Five.
Plans for this 3-day weekend include: cleaning out some of the clutter in our house, cleaning my car, going clothes shopping, going snowboarding, going to the Vagina Monologues with some girlfriends, running 16 miles (26 km), writing some freelance stories and squeezing in some rest and relaxation. It should be a busy, but good one!
Question of the day: What are you up to this weekend?
Friday 5

One.
I wasn’t going to blog today and actually sat staring at a blank screen for about 10 minutes before starting this post. Good thing I remembered my trusty “Friday Five” series at the last minute
Two.
I’m really trying to reign in my spending habits this year, especially a certain online shopping habit, so I’ve put my credit card in a drawer and declared no shopping for the months of January and February at the very least. BUT I did order myself a nice new pair of Steve Madden boots (on sale!) before the New Year and they came in the other day. I am having a full-on love affair with them
Those are them pictured above, don’t mind the running tights, I HAD to try them on Wednesday night before going to run clinic!
Three.
This week I seem to be alternating crappy nights of sleep with awesome nights of sleep. Tuesday night I had the worst night of sleep I’ve had in MONTHS. I was up at least 5 or 6 times throughout the night and from 10:30 – 1:00 am it didn’t feel like I slept at all even though I know I dozed a bit. Then Wednesday night I slept like a rock and didn’t wake up once and last night it was back to a crappy night of sleep where I woke up several times throughout the night and I’m just not feeling rested this morning. While I do enjoy the awesome night of sleep thrown in there I hope this pattern does not continue as I’d rather have more good nights of sleep than bad.
Four.
First week of marathon training has gone relatively well so far with three runs on the books! Check back on Sunday afternoon for a full run-down of week #1!
Five.
I may be cutting back on my blogging a little bit. I’ve been pretty dutifully posting 4-6 times a week for over a year now but with marathon training, wedding planning, working full-time etc. etc. it can be hard to get posts ready all the time and sometimes I just don’t have much to say. So don’t be too surprised if you don’t hear from me for 2-3 days straight. I’m likely OK
Happy Friday!

What are your Friday 5 this week?
Friday Five
One.

Bike to work week was a total success. I biked to work four days this week and home twice. It actually worked out well that we were a 1-car family since by the time I left for work Eric was already gone with my car – I had no choice but to bike!
Goal is to keep up biking to and from work 1 – 2 times per week. I think Mondays and Fridays will work best for me so I will probably bike again on Monday. It’s such a nice way to start the day! I just finished biking UP the hill in the above picture which explains my red-ness and sweaty-ness
Two.
Please go wish Lisa GOOD LUCK on her giant CFA test tomorrow that she’s been working hard studying for for the last 6 months. And while you’re blog-jumping go wish Kara a Happy Wedding Day for tomorrow!
Three.
I’m headed to Kelowna this weekend to run a trail race 5K on Sunday morning with a good friend from high school. Really looking forward to a little bit of girl time and maybe some shopping!
Four.
Eloping has been sounding really good lately. Wedding planning just isn’t my style and sometimes I just want to be married to my best friend and don’t want to wait 13 months to do so.
But we’ll wait, and we’ll have a real wedding, because as good as eloping sounds somewhere deep down inside my gut I have this weird little feeling I’d regret it.
Five.
I have nothing more to say. I’m ridiculously short-winded this morning. It’s strange really. Probably because I just woke up.

Have a lovely weekend! What are you up to?
