A Wedding and a Funeral

As much as I would have loved to stay home and relax and SLEEP on my first weekend back in Canada – I didn’t. I was a busy bee!

On Friday Eric and I headed out on a road trip to Williams Lake, B.C. (about three hours north of Kamloops) so Eric could stand up for his cousin Shawn in his wedding. It was a really nice wedding and fun to see a whole bunch of family at once. I tagged along when they went to take photos of the wedding party and snapped a few of the groomsmen while the actual photographer was taking pictures of the bride and bridesmaids!

It was fun playing “wedding photographer” for a bit. Here’s some pictures I took. Eric with all of the other groomsmen and the groom.

This is when we told them to get ready to jump on three…

…apparently getting six grown men to jump straight up in the air is harder than one would think.

And here’s one of me and Eric. Didn’t he look handsome?! :)

It was an all-around fun day, weddings are exhausting though (even if you are a guest)! My favourite part of weddings is definitely when people go up to make speeches about the bride and groom. They are just so touching and, often, hilarious. I was laughing and crying at the same time on Saturday!

Then yesterday I did a complete reversal, donned all black and attended the funeral of my best friends ex-boyfriend, who passed much too soon. To say that this weekend was emotionally exhausting would be an understatement. I’m definitely cried out of happy and sad tears after attending a wedding and a funeral back-to-back.

Thank goodness it’s a long weekend in Canada this weekend so I am at home today, doing laundry and getting the last of my “life catch-up” done before starting back at work tomorrow. I can’t believe we’ve already been home from our trip for a week and I’ve been off work for a MONTH. How does time fly so fast?!?!

So, how was everyone’s weekend? And what’s your favourite part of weddings?

Christmas Vacation Photo Recap: Part II and Delurk, darn it!

First, thanks for all your encouraging and positive comments yesterday. I’m so excited for my journey to 26.2!

This is Part II of the Christmas Vacay Recap, aka a recap of Christmas Eve. Part I can be found here.

On Christmas Eve all of the family on my mom’s side get together for a big dinner, gift exchange and songs so here are some photo’s from that evening.

I spent all day Christmas Eve making truffles for my Christmas presents.

Eric has got really into lifting weights since moving back to FSJ so I got him a shirt that says “Welcome to the Gun Show” for Christmas.

For some reason my baby cousin, Abi, is really scared of/doesn’t like Eric. That’s her scared face that she makes when she sees him!

Umm, their were SO many delicious desserts that night that I loaded up my plate. I didn’t eat all of this – not quite anyways. And I wondered why my pants were a little tight after Christmas!

My brother recently learned how to play guitar so he played a couple songs for us that night. He did really good!

My aunt was also going crazy snapping photos with her DSLR that night!

We snapped some pictures with my great-grandma that night, too. Below is my grandma, my mom, me and my great-grandma!

In other news, apparently yesterday was official Blog “De-lurking” Day. Last year on the delurking day I jumped from 0-3 comments per post to a whopping 10 comments and it just went up from there! I couldn’t believe so many people were actually reading my blog. So, if you’re a lurker over here I’d love for you to leave me a comment saying, ‘hi’ and telling me a bit about yourself, like what you’re up to this weekend? Or what you thought of Grey’s last night? (I thought it was pretty good!)

I *finally* got my laptop back last night after it showed me the black screen of death almost two months ago so I have a HUGE list of work/finance/freelance/blog/school stuff to catch up on this weekend that I’ve been putting off since I didn’t have my laptop! I will also hopefully spend a bit of time with my good friend, Jen, who I haven’t seen in ages and going to a friend’s birthday party tonight!

Have a lovely weekend everyone! XO

Christmas Vacation Photo Recap: Part I

I’m only like three weeks late to the party. No big deal. Here’s some pictures from my fabulous, amazing, wonderful 3-week holiday that went by way, way too quickly.

Let’s start from some miscellaneous photos from the holiday:

I celebrated a 1-year-olds birthday (my baby cousin, Abi).

Hope you enjoyed Part I of my holiday recap. Part II and III coming next week! Look at that, two picture posts in one week, go me!

Another thing that I plan on doing this year is posting more pictures on my blog. My goal is at least one photo per blog post. I bought a $1,000 camera six months ago and I made a goal in September to take more pictures so I might as well put them out there for everyone to see. I always enjoy blog posts with pictures more. That’s one of my favourite things about food blogs!

What do you guys think? Do you like blog posts that have pictures or are too many pictures annoying?
