Fitness-Related Letters
Dear Hot Yoga,
Thanks for hanging out with me last night. You always make me feel so refreshed and relaxed. I wish I could hang out with you more but you’re a really expensive friend to have.
I’m looking into a new opportunity that will allow me to spend more time with you, though. I’ll keep you posted.
Namaste,
Amber

Dear Swimming,
I’m sorry I didn’t get in touch with you all those months. You are my oldest and dearest friend and reuniting with you has been amazing. It’s not a struggle, it’s not hard, it just feels right. Let’s not grow apart again OK? OK!
Thanks for not leaving me for good after I neglected you for so long.
Your old friend,
Amber

Dear Strength Training,
I’m not sure what happened, but at some point in the last two years we grew apart. I used to be so close to you and we’d get together 5-6 times a week! You were my number one priority. Now? Not so much. I have to force myself to hang out with you twice a week.
I hope we can become kind-of-friends again because I know your friendship is good for me.
Not-so-lovingly yours (but working on it),
Amber

Dear Foot,
I thought we came to an agreement. I was giving you the support you needed (running shoes) and alternating between heat and ice (the way you like it). I haven’t done anything too jolting to you because I know you need time to heal. So what was with that sudden sharp pain yesterday that felt the exact same as the day I injured you?
Not cool, foot, not cool. I’m giving you everything I have, can you give a little back please?
Not-so-patiently waiting,
Amber

Dear Running,
Despite things I may have said in the above letters I just want you to know that I still think about you and fantasize about you every. single. day. Know that I haven’t forgotten you and that I miss you so much. I am confident that we’ll be together again, hopefully sooner rather than later.
True love conquers all, right?
Forever yours,
Amber

What would your fitness-related (or non-fitness if you want!) letter say today?
Three Things Thursday
One.
I have a PT appointment this morning. I am hoping and praying that this will help my foot. On Sunday it will be three weeks since the marathon and my foot is still bothering me. It actually doesn’t feel like it’s getting any better and last night it hurt worse than it has all week.
It’s just so frustrating and annoying. At this point, I just want to know what’s wrong with it and how to fix it! Hopefully the PT will have some answers or suggestions since the x-rays came back negative.
Two.
I didn’t blog yesterday but I did spend a considerable amount of time working on my blog. I updated my Top Posts page, which is a great place to start for new readers who want to learn more about me but don’t want to read through all the archives. I also added a new page: My Travels, which has links to, and photos from, all the traveling I’ve done. Check them out and let me know what you think!
Three.
Eric and I spent a few hours Halloween costume shopping yesterday. My friend is having a party on Saturday night and we wanted a couple-ish costume. Originally we were going to go as Ironman and Pepper Pots but we couldn’t find the Ironman costume anywhere and it’s too late to order it online.
Finally, we decided to go as two TV characters from one of our new favourite shows…
Bonus points if you can guess who Eric is without scrolling!

Look familiar?

He’s being Leanord from The Big Bang Theory! I think his costume turned out pretty good, what do you think?
I’m being Penny! My costume is almost complete but I need to go find a new blonde wig before Saturday because the one I got is too white-blonde and looks really fake. I will of course share pictures of both of our outfits on Saturday. We need to make a few more adjustments to Eric’s wig!
Well, that’s it for this Thursday! Hopefully I will have a GOOD update after my visit to the PT.
What’s your Three Things this Thursday? And are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what are you being?

Dear People who live above me,
Stop taking up all the street parking and start parking in your perfectly good driveway. The next time I come home and you’re taking up MY parking spot on the street, leaving your driveway sitting empty and therefore forcing me to park half-a-block away I’m going to park in front of your driveway and block it.
Sincerely,
The Girl Downstairs (who hates you)
***
Dear Landlord,
Take care of the above problem stat or I’m going to become a real problem for YOU.
From,
The Girl who wishes she’d never rented from you
***
Dear Carbs,
Stop teasing me. I want you so badly, all the time. Sometimes I wake up in the night thinking about you. I’m trying to resist, but it’s hard. Why do you have to taste so good?
Forever yours,
The Girl who loves you too much
***
Dear Body,
You’re doing great and holding up well. Just get me through the next 1.5 weeks strong and I promise I’ll let you lay on the couch for an entire week and you can have all the carbs you want. Promise!
Sincerely,
The Girl who really appreciates you
***
Dear Portland Marathon,
Thoughts of you are starting to scare me.
Apprehensively yours,

Dear Car,
Please clean yourself out, fill yourself up with gas and give yourself an oil change before next Wednesday. You need to be in top shape for the big road trip. It would be greatly appreciated.
Forever in your debt,
Your neglectful (and lazy) owner
