10 Things in 2010
These aren’t my “resolutions”, these are ten things that are going to happen in 2010!
Some are obvious (graduating) some are already planned/booked (Europe), some are going to be difficult to measure! This list has been printed and posted on the fridge and I’m determined to achieve all 10 things in 2010!
Personal:
1. Graduate from University
Like I said – an obvious one, but it ain’t over till it’s over and once I achieve this it will be huge for me. I went to University straight out of high school so I cannot wait to just have my degree and be done with school for a bit (I know, I know, I’ll miss it, but you know what, when you’ve gone to school full-time for 17 years straight it’s time for a little break!)
2. Go to Europe
Planned, happening unless something unforeseen happens. Can’t freaking wait. Give me advice about traveling to Europe here.
3. Begin to support myself
For the last four years my parents have been supporting me. They’ve been paying my rent (while I go to school) and paying my school fees. Well, guess what? I’m done school in four months and will need to become a real “grown-up” and start supporting myself.
I’m so lucky to be graduating debt-free and there’s no way I’m going to mess that up by making stupid choices and going into unnecessary debt! While the idea of completely supporting myself for basically the first time ever (only done it for four months at a time in the summer before) is scary I think it will be very liberating!
4. Stop worrying about things I can’t change and things that haven’t happened yet
I’m just a big, fat worry-wart about everything. It needs to stop. In 2010 I want to be more Zen. Why stress about something that’s already happened and I can’t change it? Why stress about something that hasn’t even happened yet? This will be hard to measure but I really want to work on being more calm and not worrying about things I have no control over!
5. Save more money/Get finances in order
I’m actually really quite good with money but I want to be better. I want to have more money in savings and quit wasting money on useless things. Also, now that I will no longer be in school I want to open an RRSP and start saving for big, future purchases. Like a house.
On another note, I also don’t want money to hold me back. I’ve been known to pass up fun things in the past because of how much they cost. I want to be smart with my money but on the same hand I work hard for it and I deserve to treat myself and have fun.
Health/Fitness:
6. Continue to maintain the weight loss I’ve kept off for the last two years
And maybe, maybe even lose that last 10 pounds. Ya, that’d be nice. I’ve also been participating in Anais’ no-sugar challenge for the last week – it’s going so-so, I will recap it next week! My ultimate goal is to gain control of my sweet tooth.
7. Keep running, keep racing
I want to run a sub two-hour half-marathon. I am doing another half in Kelowna on March 28 so I’m training hard and I really hope to come in under two hours. I want to do more small, local races this year – 10k’s, 5k’s etc. And finally, I plan on training for and competing in a triathlon of some sort (probably a sprint one).
8. Run a full marathon
This is my major health/fitness goal for 2010. In the fall I plan on running a full marathon with Lisa (more details to come) and I’m really excited about!
Training will start in June but until then I want to build up a solid base so I’m currently logging 20-30 miles a week in preparation for full training.
9. Do more yoga/learn to meditate
I think this will really tie into my personal goal of being less stressed and anxious. I am really starting to love yoga (the more I do it the more I seem to love it) and I want to keep my practice up and improve. I also want to spend at least 10 minutes, 3 times a week meditating. I’ve started by spending a few minutes focusing on my breath before falling asleep.
10. Become a flexitarian
I don’t see myself giving up meat anytime soon but it is not necessary for me to eat it every day. But I would like to get to the point where I am only eating meat 3-4 times per week. Maximum. So far I’m doing good. I didn’t have meat today or yesterday!
I did pretty well on my goals from 2009 (will review next week) so I hope I do well with these too! What’s on your “to-do” list for 2010?
Have a good weekend! XO
