Better late than never with my TGIF post! I didn’t get home until 10pm last night so just did not have it in me to write it last night.

The high of my week was attending a fun sign painting class last night with my mom. I signed us up for this class as a birthday present to her back in August. I made the below sign for Baby H’s nursery ๐Ÿ™‚ The top lettering is a little crooked, but other than that I’m super happy with how it turned out!

The low of my week was definitely discovering that our sewer had backed up on Wednesday night. 20 minutes before I was going to leave to go to prenatal yoga. Suffice to say, yoga didn’t happen, I had a mostly sleepless night on Wednesday night thinking about it, had to deal with the plumbers and restoration company on Thursday morning. We are SO LUCKY that it was contained to our crawl space and did not get into the finished part of our basement. The restoration company said we’d be better off cleaning it ourselves vs. making an insurance claim because it really is only cleaning up / disinfecting the cement and taking out a few pieces of drywall. My amazing husband spent most of yesterday getting it all cleaned up. It was pretty gross, so I give him huge huge props for that but ya that one thing happening made this entire week very veryย shitty (literally!)

A podcast episode I loved was The Lazy Genius Cleans the Kitchen. I just started listening to this podcast and I really like that the episodes are only 20 or so minutes long. I find my podcast tastes have really changed over time. For awhile I was into more true crime, investigative podcasts then for awhile I was really into political podcasts, now I find I gravitate towards podcasts that are really casual (prefer no ads for sure!) and I love ones that are just two people talking. I also like listening to ones about parenting, home life, cosyness etc. I guess it’s that nesting stage of life I’m in ๐Ÿ™‚

For my workouts, I completed I am teaching bootcamp twice a week from 6:15 – 7am so I taught that on both Tuesday and Thursday! I will share some of the bootcamp workouts we do in a future blog post. I obviously modify A LOT, and spend a lot of time just walking around the class correcting form etc. I get most of my inspiration for workouts from Fitness Blender and Peanut Butter Runner. Some people think it’s strange I started teaching a bootcamp class at 32 weeks pregnant (and will be 37 weeks when it’s done!) but it was a good opportunity I didn’t want to pass up as I’d like to take on teaching more classes while on maternity leave. I wasn’t able to make it to yoga at all this week, so that is all I did for workouts. I also went for a walk with my friend one day.

The best money I spent was on, I actually can’t think of anything in particular I spent money on this week that was ‘well spent’. Ha. I bought coffee out a few times. I buy coffee out wayyy more these days because I only have one cup a day and it feels like a waste to make it at home sometimes.

My plans this weekend include tomorrow morning I am going to go to yoga at 10am and then I’m planning on spending tomorrow getting our office organized (there are currently books ALL over the floor as we just got a book shelf a couple weeks ago) and washing and putting away ALL the baby laundry. Eric is on night shift so will be sleeping and I have a long queue of podcasts to catch up on while doing this.ย  Friday night I’m actually signed up to do a 5km charity walk with my friend Janine, but right now it’s calling for rain and I *might* bail based on weather. Sunday some lovely blog friends are hosting a virtual baby shower for me through Google Hangouts in the afternoon, and other than that I just plan to lay low and rest/relax around the house. Might borrow a tip from my friend Lisa and make it a ‘shouldless day’ as the following weekend is Eric’s weekend off / Thanksgiving so I know it will be a busy one.

I don’t usually like to dwell on the negative… but tell me the low of your week to make me feel better about my literal shitty week ๐Ÿ˜‰ Also, what are your plans for this weekend?

  1. You low of the week was really low. I am glad that Eric took care of the clean-up. Nice work, Eric! Your sign turned out well! I actually did not notice that the lettering was uneven at the top! It looks great. We did a similar class last year and I made a ‘home’ sign with the state of Minnesota on it with a heart where the twin cities is. I absolutely love it. I should see if they have any nursery signs you can make as something like that would be perfect for our future nursery!

My low of the week was a bad week at work, which you know all about since I’ve vented to you a bunch this week (sidenote: thanks for always listening!!). It’s gotten better as the situation that arose yesterday has been resolved as I went to talk to the person that was upset with me and smoothed things over. The other situation hasn’t resolved itself but I’m trying not to care too much.

I have very little planned for the weekend which I am SO excited about. I need a plan free weekend, especially since the next 2 weekends are busy! You should totally have a shouldless day. I love having those once a month as they really recharge my battery!!

Love the sign you did for the baby’s nursery!

Since I’m not perfectly bilingual, I didn’t know what was a “sewer”, I had to google it! It’s a good thing you were home when it happened, imagine being away in vacation!

My low of the week: a close coworker of mine just announced today she was leaving for another job in 2 weeks! I’m sad to see her go but happy for her at the same time! I”ve known her for 5 years and I was actually hired to do her job during her maternity leave back in 2012!

I look forward to the weekend! My boyfriend is gone haunting, so I will do a lot of reading and maybe cooking some soup!

Low of the week … Norah peed on the back of the couch. Hurray for potty training! At least it’s fake/bonded leather so it was easy enough to clean up but ugh … potty training is the worst.

As for the weekend, we have our windup tournament for fall ball, so I’m looking forward to that!

  4. Oh my gosh! That happened to us a couple weeks ago with the sewer (tree roots in our water line). Only a bit of water got on the cement in our laundry room before we discovered it, so we too were so, so lucky. Sorry to hear you had to deal with that, but happy to hear that it didn’t get into the finished part of your basement.

Love how your sign turned out! Oh man, that sucks about your sewer backing up. Glad you were able to get it all fixed

Man, plumbing issues are a bummer, especially when they have to do with poop. I had a backup in my tub last year and had to go out into the pouring rain and dig around in the poopy mud to try to find the problem and lets just say that it is definitely not my favorite thing to do on a Saturday, that’s for sure! You have a stellar husband! Give that man a hug!

The low of my week last week was nothing really. I did overbook myself and had after work plans on 4 of the 5 days, which always seems fine beforehand but ends up being very tiring during that week, even if it is for fun things! However, I had a few friends that I had not seen in months (one since May!) so it was totally worth the sleep deprivation! This week and next week are shaping up to be just as busy too… I am not sure what is going on; my scheduling assistant needs to be more realistic!

Your sign is so cute! Totally did not notice that the top isn’t totally straight. I love it!

The sewer backup, though, eesh. Kudos to Eric for getting it all cleaned up!

My low of the week(end) was getting sick. Thankfully, I didn’t really have plans this weekend, so I just spent most of Friday and all of Saturday in bed. So needed!
