Before and After
This was me before yoga last night:
And after:
I was so wound up after work yesterday trying to fit in gassing up the car, eating dinner and walking the dog between getting home at 5:45 pm and going to the 7:15 yoga class. I was kind of a meanie to my husband right before heading to yoga, not gonna lie.
But as usual, all was right with the world after 75-minutes of breathing, flowing, sweating and playing with poses like side plank with leg in tree, wild thing (one of my most favourite poses ever) and a glorious savasana. I really need to apply the whole “just breathe” principal to my every day life more often..
Anyways, today is a new day and I’m heading into work early to bang out some work before everyone else arrives and feel like I’m more on top of things and if all goes well with Eric’s school today we’ll enjoy a quiet and low key Valentines tonight over a bottle of wine and some homemade pasta for dinner. Even though I’m ridiculously excited for Mexico in three (THREE!) sleeps part of the whole yoga principal is being in the moment right? So today I’ll be in the moment, enjoy it for what it is and try not to get wound up about anything!
Have a very lovely Thursday (and Happy Valentines Day)!
What is one thing you are going to appreciate and be in the moment for today?

This was me tonight! I had a long, frustrating commute and was so cranky when I got home. I really wanted to change into pajamas and collapse in front of the TV, but I forced myself to work out. I didn’t do yoga, but doing some weights and intense cardio was perfect to let off some steam and I felt so much better afterward. It helped me to realize that my cranky mood was completely unnecessary.
I have those moments all.the.time–hence the beauty of a great mood/mind altering work-out
Happy Valentines to you and happy upcoming trip too—can’t wait to read about it!
This happens to me all the time- with most kind of exercise actually, but definitely yoga
I’m so excited for you to go to Mexico! Hope you enjoy these last few days leading up!
I am going to appreciate my time with Phil tonight! We have a limited amount of time together until I move, so I want to fully soak it all up! I am glad yoga helped you find your center!
I totally relate! The past two weeks my Wednesdays have been ROUGH at work and when I get to my Vinyasa class that night it’s amazing the change that happens after an hour!
SO excited for your Mexico trip, but I love the in the moment – so I am LOVING my coffee that my husband had waiting for me this morning – it allowed me to get ready faster and get to work earlier to get things done. (Even though I’m commenting on your blog right now – ha!) I’m also in the moment that today is my Friday!
I love when this happens : ) With yoga teacher training, I’ve been practicing yoga less and less during the week nights (backwards, I know) because I’ve had to use those nights to catch up on errands, work and chores and I REALLY miss it. I notice the difference for sure. I’m hoping to catch up/get ahead tonight so hopefully I can go more next week.
It always seems that frustrations hit more frequently when you’re preparing to leave on a fab vacation. I can definitely relate. I’m glad yoga was able to restore you!
Today, I just want to appreciate today and not worry about getting my hopes up or being anxious about what could happen next. Just enjoy what I have right now, at this moment.
Those pics are funny!! I totally feel like some days before and after a run
I’m going to continue to be in the moment while driving home and toughly enjoying not taking the train today lol
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and Eric, love you guys
Yoga makes everything better. namaste and happy v-day!
Having to fit eveything in when you have to be somewhere is so stressful. The hour I have between getting home from work and having to leave for school is always a nightmare nomatter how many times I do it. Just walking the dog and feeding myself turn into such a production. The whole just breathe thing is such a good reminder.
Yes, yoga is so great for calming the mind and body. PS – If you guys get the chance, do a couples massage at your hotel. We did ours at the spa at our resort and it cost about the same amount of ONE massage in the states ($80 ish for both of us). And then you add the fact that you’re beach side, hearing the waves crash and fresh air flowing on the balcony…it was awesome. Have a great trip, Amber!
Happy Valentines day!!!!
is it relaxing really
