Final fling before the ring!

Several months ago I handed over all planning power of both my bridal shower and my bachelorette party to MOH Michele and bridesmaid Jen respectively. I had an amazing bridal shower thrown for me back at Christmas time and then hadn’t really heard much about the bachelorette party.

I spent all day Saturday in a strategic planning session for work and then my friend Robyn, who was visiting me from Calgary this weekend, picked me up and we went out for Mojito’s! I had been looking forward to having dinner with Robyn and a few of my girlfriends from around here on Saturday night but all of them “canceled” at the last minute. Heh.

Anyways, I came home from having drinks with Robyn to see Jen’s car in the driveway and then walked up the stairs into our house to 9 girlfriends in running gear, marathon numbers and wigs on yelling “SURPRISE!”

I was told to go upstairs and put on running clothes and was then provided with a mandatory wig and t-shirt to wear.

The running clothes/marathon/wig-theme was seriously SO AWESOME and FUN!

There was 11 of us total and you never would have guessed that most of these girls didn’t even know each other very well, most of them are all friends of mine from different aspects of my life. But everyone got along wonderfully!

After I got over my initial shock (and had a few shots) we headed downtown for the best part of the whole night: A SCAVENGER HUNT! Let me just say that scavenger hunts are the best thing ever. So fun! Especially as a party game at a party where not everyone knows one another very well! We were split into two teams…

…and sent off with a list of things to get – mostly things we had to take photos of.

Like girls planking.

And some things that were a little too inappropriate for the blog 😉 It was a bachelorette party after all! Our team lost unfortunately. Probably because we got distracted by cute puppies during the hunt!

Then we all met up at a pub for more drinks, some food and lots of laughs before heading out dancing at the bar, something I hadn’t done in over two years!

It was SUCH A FUN NIGHT! Jen did an amazing job planning a party that was totally ME. I adored the marathon/running theme and let me say wearing running clothes to the bar is the best idea ever! So comfortable for a night of running around town and dancing. My friends are the best and totally spoiled me. Every time I turned around there was a shot or a drink in front of me. Sunday was definitely a hugeeee write-off.

Thank you again to all my fabulous friends who came out on Saturday!

Questions of the day: What did you do for your bachelorette party? Have you ever had a surprise party thrown for you? I’ve never had one thrown for me before, this was so great!

Yay! I love all these pictures and you look super happy! 🙂 I am the same way that a lot of my friends are from different areas of life and/or just are not friends with each other and I’m always impressed by how well they come together.

My bachelorette was an amazing night too! 🙂 So glad you had fun! I kinda wanna see the inappropriate pictures now, ha ha!

Okay first off – LOVE the title of this post! And what a fun theme! Thanks for sharing these pictures – they are AWESOME!

For my bachelorette party – which for the record, seems SO long ago! – we went into D.C. to bowl at Lucky Strike – kind of like cosmic bowling but all the time – then headed to a bar to eat and have drinks and then went dancing after that! Definitely fun! It’s funny to think about it now because while I had a great time, since I’m older I’d probably want to do a wine tasting and then come home and watch movies and drink wine instead! Ha!

That is awesome! We had a brunch type shower at my house and then left to go to Calgary where we had a few hotel rooms, went to a dinner theatre (more of a adult funny one that fancy one) and duelling pianos. It was great. I stayed sober per my request which drove my MOH crazy but I was happy to stay sober and remember the night.

looks like fun!!!! i love the whole wig idea! and scavenger hunt – big big fan! after all my bachelorette party had that theme too!!! total blast!

  5. Ris says:

This is such a fun theme! Sounds like your friends know you well and are totally awesome!!

  6. Heather says:

Ahhh these pictures are so fun!! What a blast! I LOVE LOVE LOVE theme parties (even though most of my friends groan at the idea) and that is a perfect theme!

  7. That sounds like so much fun! My batchelor party was pitiful. My youngest brother was a college student at the time, so he brought a few of his friends that I had never met over to my house for beer and porn. and that was before we had the internet or dvd’s so it was only vhs quality porn. pitiful.

  8. Britt says:

How fun! I didn’t have a bachelorette party, but yours looked like it was a blast!

  9. Leigh says:

Haha love the theme! The pictures are hilarious so I can only assume that you had a great night! 🙂

My bacholerette was pretty tame…it included dinner at a fondue place and then drinks/dancing at a piano bar. I’m not a huge person on the whole penis/look at me parties, so I was more than okay with this!

  10. Bronwyn says:

That looks like so much fun! LOL. I was out Saturday! Did you go to CJ’s for dancing? I can’t believe I’d have missed seeing a group of “marathoners” in wigs.
I’ve had one surprise party thrown for me; a little go away party when I was leaving Victoria, it was very sweet.

  11. Kyria says:

That looks so fun! I love that your friends did a running theme! I think going to the bar in running clothes is the way to go! Gosh, your wedding is coming up fast!

  12. Alli says:

Not even joking when I say that this might be the most awesome bachelorette party I’ve ever seen! Glad you had such a good time.

  13. That would be a very lovely evening out. Running clothes or pjs win my vote for the bar! Glad you had fun.

  14. Kara says:

It looks like you had a blast!!

For my Bachelorette we had a scavenger hunt, played laser tag and went out for dinner and dancing! It was pretty low key but SO much fun!!

  15. Holly says:

Looks like a lot of fun! I didn’t really have a “stagette” – I just spent the weekend with my sister and we did a lot of shopping 🙂 (My bridesmaids lived out of the province and it would have been a bit awkward for my “man of honour” to plan something for the ladies!)

  16. I love that your girls really kept YOU in mind and planned a party around something that means so much to you. Not very many girls would do that, let alone have as much fun as y’all did! I skipped the whole bachelorette thing (too old!), but I’ve planned many a fun scavenger hunt in my time. It takes a lot of work to plan them, but so worth it when your friends have so much fun!

  17. Vanessa says:

Wow! I love that your friends pulled together such an amazing bachelorette for you. A scavenger hunt? Awesome.

  18. I love surprises! It looks like you girls had a blast!! So fun when friends do those kinds of things for each other.

  19. Caroline says:

haha omg I LOVE this. Your friends are awesome! I totally wish it was socially acceptable to wear running/yoga clothes all day long. The scavenger hunt was such a great idea, I haven’t done one in so long!

  20. Oh my gosh! You are so right, this was so YOU! What an amazing and special bachelorette party! Your friends sound phenomenal! 🙂

The wig thing is definitely something I want to do when I have my “last fling!” 😉

  21. J says:

So fun! Most of my friends didn’t know each other so I had the bachelorette party as a way of hopefully introducing them to each other so they would know more ppl at the wedding. We just went to dinner then out for drinking and dancing and it was a lot of fun. Even know I still have that same group of girls over every once in a while to have a girls night because everyone had so much fun together!

  22. Stevie says:

Looks like a blast!!! Scavenger hunts are seriously the best. I organized one for a friend of mine several years ago and we had so much fun.

Not sure what I’ll be doing for my bachelorette party this summer. Probably something similar, but I haven’t given it much thought yet!

Glad you had such a great time 🙂

  23. hillary says:

Oh my goodness – these photos are hilarious. I’m glad you had such a fun time!

  24. I LOVE that they did something with a theme that suits you so well. That sounds like so much fun, and I agree with you, scavenger hunts ARE the best!

  25. I have been looking forward to reading this post all day! It looks like you all had so much fun! Jen did an awesome job planning. I love the pictures of you walking in and being surprised! That is awesome!

I, um, hate surprises. I would of course be gracious if anyone ever threw me a surprise party, but all of my close friends know I HATE surprises (even good one, yes, this makes me lame).

If/when I get married, I think I will be a bit too old for a bach party, so mine will likely resembles the Vancouver version of your bach party – dinner out with friends and a low key night!! But your bach party looks like SO much fun!

  26. eemusings says:

YAY for an awesome weekend! Sounds just perfect for you all around.

My friends threw me a surprise party for my 21st which was just amazing. I doubt I’ll have a hen’s night, but you never know.

  27. Tiffany says:

Sounds like you had so much fun!

I expressly did not want a stagette. Instead, we went out to the Keg for dinner the night before I left for Newfoundland and ended up getting my arm twisted into a night out on the town. Low key, but so much fun. I agree, it’s always nice to be surprised!

  28. Amy says:

OMG, what a great idea! I love it! Also, LOL at your number being 69 😉

  29. I love bachelorette parties!!

Nope, never had a surprise party thrown for me. But I have thrown a few 🙂

  30. Melissa says:

Awwwwwwwwww I seriously love this so much!!! I love the surprise aspect of it too, and it really is SO YOU! It’s so funny to see you with black hair, ha 🙂

I’ve had one big surprise party thrown for me and when I walked in my house I had a funny feeling about something because it was the middle of summer and all the blinds and doors were shut tightly. I was like what the…? But I had NO idea that like 40 of my friends (work, high school, college, family) would all be waiting for me. I could hardly eat all night because I was SO shell shocked. I think that was my 17th birthday & somehow my crush was there and just swoon. It was lovely hehe. Surprises are the BEST!

  31. Shoshanah says:

What a great surprise! I looks like you had such a great night and the party was perfect for me.

As for a surprise party, I’ve never had one. I think in theory I’d like one, but I’m sure actually having one could be a different story.

And as for my bachelorette… well it hasn’t happened yet. But when it does, I’m sure you’ll know!

  32. Nice sharing and your pics are good, I like it.
