Changes on the horizon
Two years and ten months ago I walked into my workplace a nervous and young 20-year-old with zero marketing experience. I was seeking an internship in the marketing and public relations sector while obtaining my journalism degree and the owners of a very well-respected marketing and communications agency took a chance on me. I’ve spent the last 34 months learning everything there is to know about communications and marketing and have grown a lot professionally and personally.
I’ve had the best boss and co-workers I could ask for, especially for my first job after university. They spoiled me with flowers the day after I got engaged and always, always remembered my birthday. They let me ask a million questions and always answered them. They have been very supportive through all my personal endeavors such as marathon training and writing this blog.
Monday was a very bittersweet day for me because I gave three weeks notice at my current job. I’ve accepted a communications and resource development position at our local United Way and start at the end of the month. I’m so excited to dive headfirst into some new challenges and opportunities and also to enter the non-profit sector! 2012 was already shaping up to be a great year and now it’s looking even more exciting!
I have a couple more posts scheduled for this week but after that I will be cutting back my blogging to 3-4 times per week while I make this transition. If you don’t hear from me for a few days, have no fear, I’m likely still kicking around
As always, thank you so much for reading along and supporting me through everything I take on! XO

Congrats on your new job!
Congratulations Amber! I hope your transition goes well. Leaving a job and co-workers you like, even if it is for a great opportunity, is always hard.
Wow, fantastic! I didn’t even know you were looking for a new job!
I’m glad you’ve had such a great experience at your first “real” job and I hope the second one is just as great, if not better!
Congrats Amber! I spent several years in the non-profit world. While it is a lot of work (what job isn’t?) it is incredibly rewarding. Best of luck on your transition and new endevour!

How exciting! My first out-of-college job was at my local UW. I spent 7 years there doing media relations, copywriting, and ending up as their Marketing Manager before moving into my new position. It’s a good organization, shoot me a note if you have any questions! I certainly know their marketing speak
Congrats on your new position! That’s so exciting.
Congrats!! That’s so exciting!
Congrats Amber! Working for United Way will be quite amazing. The company I work for work’s a lot with them and it’s always exciting. They do a lot for local communities and I absolutely love some of the programs they are involved with. I know when I left a job that I really enjoyed to move further into my career it was hard too, but I am positive you will find this new endeavor very rewarding.
Congrats again

Yay! Congrats Amber – always gotta keep moving to learn and grow. Hope you can write a little bit about the new gig – I used to think I’d like to work at a nonprofit, although now I’m not so sure, unless perhaps it was devoted to financial literacy, which I’m pretty passionate about.
I am so excited and thrilled for you, Amber! You really have SO much to offer a company and they are lucky to have you. Cannot wait to follow along on your new journey.
Congrats, congrats!
