I’m going to be a Run Van Blogger!!
A couple weeks ago I got an email that made me literally squeal with excitement! It was from the Vancouver International Marathon Society asking me if I’d like to be an official Run Van Blogger for the upcoming marathon.
Um, heck yes!
Back in 2009 when I first started running the Vancouver Half-Marathon was not only my first half-marathon, it was my first official running race ever. I loved everything about that race and had an amazing first racing experience. I credit that experience with getting me hooked on the sport of running.

Since then I’ve ran four more half-marathon’s, one full marathon and several smaller races including trail races and one sprint triathlon! I think it’s safe to say I’ve fallen completely in love with running and racing and I credit a lot of that to an amazing first race experience in Vancouver.
Another exciting thing is the fact that I love Vancouver! It is a beautiful city and I feel lucky to live so close to it. I absolutely cannot wait to run the new point-to-point course in May and explore the city from an entirely new perspective.

So what will this mean for my blog? Nothing much will change. I was already planning on blogging about my whole training experience and doing my weekly training recaps throughout the whole 18 weeks as well as do a final race report so the content of my blog really won’t be affected. Also, at the end of this whole process I will do a full review of the Running Room Training Clinic, which will be entirely my own views and opinions of course!
Thanks for all your support on the blog so far! I’m looking forward to the next 15 weeks leading up to the marathon!
Full Disclosure: In exchange for blogging about my training and racing experience (something I had planned to do anyways) the Vancouver International Marathon Society has offered me a free entry to the Marathon as well as covered the cost of my Running Room Training Clinic.
However, I was planning to do BOTH of these things anyways (and was already signed up for both) so this sweet deal is really just icing on the cake.
I will also get Media Accreditation on event day (which means more behind the scenes pictures and info for blog readers) and they are sending me an official training shirt and hat!
I also want to be clear that any views expressed on my blog are mine alone and do not represent the views of the marathon society, the BMO Vancouver Marathon or any related sponsors.

Yay! I’m so happy for you! It’s going to be fun to see some of the behind the scenes of a marathon!
Cool, very exciting! It must be really early and I’m not awake yet because it took me a minute to put together what you were saying with ‘Run Van’…I was thinking what does a van have to do with it?..idiot moment for the day!

This is so awesome, Amber! I’m excited for you and your marathon journey! I can’t wait to read all about it.
I think this is just awesome! They picked the best blogger.
With all the expenses of your wedding, it is really nice to have these expenses covered. I say you put the money you would have spent on entry fees and the running clinic on massages to keep you healthy
So happy for you and excited to follow along – although I have to say I am sort of sad that I am not training along with you. 2013 we will, though!
Woot woot!!! They couldn’t have picked a better person for the job
I can’t wait to hear ALL about it!!!!
I just found you via the blogger announcement on facebook and I am looking forward to following your journey to the start! Congratulations! This is going to be my first real attempt at the marathon, so it will be encouraging to read your posts.
Wow, congrats on the race sponsorship! That is a pretty sweet deal! I have only been to Vancouver once, and I was about 12. I don’t remember it at all. I would love to go back one day!

Ooh, that’s exciting, Amber! I’m always impressed when Aron gets to do that for races. Way to go for catching their attention! It will be fun to see some “behind the scenes” stuff at the marathon from you. Keep up the good work.
How cool, congratulations! I think I’ve commented before that I’d love to do the Vancouver Marathon someday. I’ve already enjoyed following your blog for the last month or so and it’ll be extra neat to read your behind the scenes info.
That is awesome! You deserve it! You are so dedicated. It’s nice to be recognized, and I am sure this will be a great opportunity for you. Who knows, maybe ALL your races will be covered after this!? One can only hope !
That’s pretty neat! Especially the FREE ENTRY part, wow!! Can’t wait to read about the race. I have this feeling I will be running that one someday.
