Today I love (2)

This blog post is part of Caitlin’s change the way you see, not the way you look week.

change-the-way-you-see

As part of change the way you see, not the way you look week I am going to post a picture of something that I love about myself and/or my body every day this week.

Day 1: Freckles

If you had sat down with me three years ago and told me that I was going to not only become a runner, but be training for a marathon, I would have laughed. That goal would have seemed unattainable to me. I mean, I hated running.

Yet, here I am. And I’ve never felt better.

Running has literally changed my life. The feeling I get from it. The bonds and relationships I’ve formed from it. It’s truly changed the way I look at myself and exercise. Before, going to the gym or working out was something I did to stay fit. Now, it’s something I do to help me achieve my goal of running a marathon.

I’m a pear shape, if you will. I used to hate my big butt and thunder thighs. Now I see them for what they are, the muscles that carry me through a hard run. The muscles that hold me in warrior pose. The muscles that allow me to get up off my chair and walk to the kitchen – an ability that millions of people don’t have.

Today I love my legs. Thunder thighs and all.

You have great legs! I’m hoping to to learn to love my legs a little more soon. :)

  2. Umm..I would hardly call those thunder thighs missy!! But I am glad that you are learning to love them more and more. Muscles are so hot and you worked damn hard for ‘em!

Great post! You have great, strong legs! You’re totally right, it’s improtant to think about the functions and importance of each body part rather than how it look.

  4. Your legs look great, lady!! I wish I could say I love my thighs… I so don’t. In fact, my dislike for my thighs has kept me from wearing white pants all summer. Which is pretty sad… I really need to work on not hating that part of my body…

But this comment should be about what I like and not waht I don’t like! So I will say I really like my collar bone area of my chest. I like that my collar bones sort of pop out (but in a healthy way, not a ‘she’s too thin’ sort of way). They look great when I wear a dress or a v-neck shirt!

I had no idea you used to hate running! What a great week – I still have to check out Operation Beautiful as it sounds like something that would be very good for me. You have GREAT legs. I have a few areas I need to work on learning to love; I find it so hard to say I actually enjoy ANY part of my body, but I’ll say lips for today, because I don’t mind them so much :)

Dude your legs are AWESOME! I’m glad you did this because my knee is giving me a lot of trouble today and I’ve been gritting my teeth about it at work, so today I would say I love my smile because it can cover up the stupid pain I have to deal with and it makes me (and the person on the receiving end!) a little happier.

  7. Leigh says:

You have great legs Amber! Just think of how strong they are becoming while you are training for the marathon.

    Such a great post series!

  8. Nora says:

Your legs look ah-mazing! I know you put a lot of hard work into all the exercise you do, but seriously gal, you look great! I hope that one day I can have calves like that… =)

  9. Kara says:

So muscular! I bet you could kick ass with those legs! (And you will when it comes time for your marathon!)

I love the idea of this post theme :)

  10. Thanks to all the pushups I’ve been doing, my biceps are rockin’ right now. I love it! By the way, your thighs look awesome (no thunder to be seen!). :)

  11. Nicole says:

i love my legs too! :)

  12. I’m loving my arms more and more! I used to be annoyed they weren’t sculpted like I’d wish, but they’re smaller than they were and I know these babies can do a lot of push ups.

  13. Aly says:

For what it’s worth, your legs are NOT thunderous – they’re fantastic!

  14. Stephany says:

    You have hot legs. :)

I also love my legs. They are my favorite part of my body.

  15. ens says:

this is such a great idea! I might join in for the next couple of days :)

  16. Liz says:

The muffins weren’t too hard to make healthy, and I think they’re delicious even if I have nothing to compare them too! I’m still not sure if you’re supposed to completely dunk them in butter and roll them in sugar or just do the tops like I did… It’s probably a complete dunk though. ;)

    By the way! Nice calves!

  17. Yeah, you do not have thunder thighs. Far from it. Your legs are great!

It’s surprisingly difficult to come up with something I like about my body that’s different from yesterday! We’ll go with my calves. Shapely and nice!

  18. Kelly says:

    Look at those muscles!!!

I love my legs too, I even love my knee at the current moment. Who would’ve thought?!

  19. mandy says:

Your legs are awesome! All those miles you’re training are amazing, look at those calves!

  20. Marie says:

I love my “thunder thighs,” too! I’ve always been self-conscious about my legs because they’ve always been so darn muscular (aka “big”) compared to my skinny friends. Since I’ve started running, I’ve been loving my legs more, too! I love my legs. Great post! I love your OB series, and your legs :D

  21. Nice legs!!!!!!

I love my legs too – they are strong!

  22. Sadly I am not ready to say I love my thunder thighs yet, I try to accept them most days, today I don’t think is one of them seadly that I LOVE them. One day.
