Surprise for me!

in family,weekend

So last night Eric leaves to go on a “mysterious errand”. Originally when he said he was going out to get something I thought nothing of it and assumed he was just going to pick up groceries to make dinner or something like that.

When he was gone for almost an hour and wasn’t answering my phone calls or texts I started to get slightly worried. And annoyed.

Then he returned with….

…..MY MOM!

How exciting!! I think it’s no secret on the blog that I tend to get homesick, and since I wasn’t going to be visiting home again until Christmas my mom came here to me. I surprised her once but never expected her to surprise me like this. Eric has known for two weeks! Isn’t he good at keeping secrets? I SUCK at keeping secrets!

She is here all weekend, and tomorrow we are getting massages!

So exciting! I hope everyone else has a great weekend. See you on Monday!

Has anyone ever surprised you?

How sneaky on your mom and Eric’s part! But in a good way of course :) That’s so exciting that she came to visit you for the weekend. I hope you have a fabulous weekend with her! :)

That is the best surprise!! :)

I was surprised on my birthday once when a friend of mine had moved away to CHINA the year before, and all of a sudden, my friends had organised a trip for her to come meet me at school on my birthday (I guess she was over visiting family, which happily coincided!) and we all went out for lunch. It was awesome :)

Have an amazing weekend!!

That’s so awsome! Aren’t mom’s amazing?!

Last year, right before my wedding one of my Maid of Honors (yes, I had 2 – one from the east coast and one from the west coast!) kidnapped me for a bachelorette adventure. All I was told was to pack a bag for three days and to bring a bathing suit. Wasn’t I suprised and I found myself on an AIRPLANE. I was even more suprised when we landed in Scottsdale, AZ and my other MOH was waiting for us at baggage claim! We spent three nights at a swank resort lounging, eating and hiking Camel Back Mountain. So much fun!

That’s so awesome! I always appreciate time with my mom. Eric’s such a sweetheart!

One time I was really upset about something (it might have been school) and Kyle left while I was trying to settle myself down and came back with a HUGE bouquet of flowers. He hates buying flowers so it was such an amazing surprise to see that he bough them!

Awww, that’s so great your mom surprised you. You’ll have such fun this weekend!

My family is sort of known for surprising one another. The classic story is when my dad brought my mom to Chicago for her birthday. Only, she thought they were going to NYC. And he got her on the plane thinking she was heading to NYC. Until the lady sitting next to them almost didn’t make the flight, swooshed onto the plane, sat down and said, “Thank god I made this flight; I have to get to CHICAGO tonight” … at which point, my mom looked quizzically at my dad and started laughing hysterically!

Aw so exciting! I’m pretty bad at keeping secrets, and even worse at knowing someone is keeping a secret from me and letting it be. I bug them until they give in : ) haha
Have a great weekend!!

That would be my ideal surprise! I love visits from my mom and dad. I hope you enjoy every moment with her! (And YAY for massages and for Eric being able to keep it a secret for so long – I couldn’t have done it!)

Awww! I love that :) Eric and your mom are awesome. I am actually awesome at keeping secrets to the point where I will lie to avoid telling the secret. We threw a surprise engagement party for my friend Katie a few years ago and everyone was listening to me lying on the phone and they were like my god, how often do you lie to us? you are TOO good at it haha. I only use my lying skills for good I swear.

That is such a great surprise! The only surprise I can think of was for my 16th birthday. My best friend and mom planned and shocked me with a super fun birthday party! It was great!

No one has ever surprised me, BUT I think that is because my friends/family know that I do not really like surprises. I realize that makes me COMPLETELY lame and boring, but I just dont’ handle surprises very well since I like things planned out & sort of am weird about planning my weekends or ‘owning’ my schedule if that makes any sense at all!!

But I have surprised a friend. A couple of years ago, I flew to Phoenix on my best friend’s birthday to surprise her. I had arranged it w/ her then-boyfriend, now-husband, so he picked me up at the airport. He was then home later than he had said he woudl be as it took forever for my luggage to come, so he was getting all these phone calls and texts from my friend and she was NOT happy… but she calmed down the minute I walked into her apt and surprised her. The look on her face was priceless and to this day, she says that is her best bday memory.

Well done to Eric on keeping that a secret! that is tough to do!!
