I had grand plans of going to Bikram last night. (I’m doing another yoga challenge in September, btw!)
Yup, grand plans.
Rushed out of work at 4:30 and headed home to change and go to the 5:00 PM class.
Then I came home to this:

Somebody was cooking dinner again. So I decided a night home relaxing with Eric > Yoga. Last night anyways
Look what he made!

Zucchini stuffed with carrots, onion, peppers, more zucchini and a teriyaki stirfry sauce, lemon-fried shrimp and scalloped potatoes. Side note: Scalloped potatoes are quite possibly my favourite food in the whole entire world!

I’m not eating chicken, pork or beef anymore. But currently seafood is fair game and darn this shrimp was good. Isn’t it cute how Eric put it on top of lemon slices for me?!

We then ate ice cream and curled up on the couch to watch Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest.

What is going on with Orlando Bloom lately anyways!?

Last night, hanging out with Eric and relaxing was a priority over going to Bikram Yoga. This made me think about Caitlin’s post yesterday on Priorities.
Here’s my list in order of priority as of right now:
- Full-time job/career
- Marathon Training
- Spending quality time with Eric & Webster
- Freelance writing/blogging
- Taking the time to pack healthy lunches and make healthy dinners + spending money on healthy, wholesome food
- Keeping my apartment semi-clean and tidy
- Reading/commenting on other blogs and interacting with other bloggers
- My social life: spending time with friends
- Watching TV and reading books for pleasure
My job being #1? Well I did just work my ass off for four years in University to land this career + I’m the only one of us earning an income + ya, I’ll admit it, money and career are important to me. Going to my job and working hard every day makes my days feel worthwhile and productive so I’m not sorry to say that my job is a huge priority.
I know that some people might think it’s silly that marathon training is #2. But, honestly, running this marathon is a HUGE goal for me. So, ya, for the four months leading up to the marathon it’s a main priority in my life. And Eric gets that!
I’m thinking that cleaning my apartment doesn’t necessarily have to be so high on the list, but having a clean apartment really affects my overall mood and productivity so that’s part of the reason it’s so important to me.
I know it’s kind of sad that my social life/spending time with friends has fallen to the bottom of list and I do need to work on remedying that, but I’ve been so darn busy between work + training + hanging out with Eric that it’s been hard to spend time with my friends who also lead very busy lives! I have a few different “friend dates” planned this week so I’m looking forward to that and clearly it’s something I need to work on.
What would your priority list look like right now?

I must admit, your boy can cook! Glad you enjoyed an impromptu night off!
First of all, Eric can come over ANYTIME to make dinner. I sort of miss coming home to dinner being made. Its really nice. And boy what a meal he made! That looks amazing.
I love your list of priorities. Mine are pretty similar. The first is a bit of a secret (to the public at least), I can talk about it directly though.
Half marathon training
Be more involved at church
Be more involved with blogs and the news
Do community service/volunteer work
Complete lingering projects
Come up with a plan for the money I do not have
Reconnect with friends.
Well, color me jealous! That looks like an amazing meal. What a boyfriend!
I totally would have chosen dinner w/ E over yoga, too.
Let’s see… Priority list…
1. Work
2. Marathon Training
3. Sticking to my Mon-Fri blogging schedule
4. Spending time w/ Family & Friends
5. Commenting on other blogs
6. Cleaning my condo
* Cleaning falls at the bottom of the list, which isn’t great but that’s sort of how I am during the summer. It will move up the priority list when I am not gone so many weekends… and not runnign so much!
In the short term, getting my son ready to leave for college is #1. My family is always #1
My list is really similar to yours:
1. Training (or when not in training exercise for my health and well being)
2. Work
3. The BF
4. Blogging and social media
And then probably some other stuff that I can’t think of at the moment. Training/exercising is first because if I’m not making me happy and taking care of myself, I will not be happy at work and I will be cranky around the BF. It sounds selfish, but me first and then everything else.
So, when is Eric going to give cooking / being a great boyfriend lessons to all our significant others? haha
I think my priority list looks something like this right now:
* Full-time job/career (same as you–five years of university pushed this right to the top. haha)
* Spending quality time with The Hubster & my family
*Race training (I’m running a 10km race next month)
* Building and rebuilding friendships
* Writing
* Taking courses to expand the subjects I can teach
* Keeping my apartment semi-clean and tidy
* Reading/commenting on other blogs and interacting with other bloggers
* Finding time to relax / unwind every day
Current priorities?
* Work
* Final class at school
* Training for my 10K
* Relaxing/me time
* Blog/Vlog
* Branching out/social activities
Love that Eric cooks you dinner; so sweet =)
What an awesome guy – wahoo for coming home to a great dinner! That definitely trumps yoga! I understand about the clean apartment thing – we both live in such small spaces I think it makes a big difference.
Oooh, what’s your September yoga challenge?
That sounds like it was an amazing night in! Props to Eric
My priorities right now are work (proving to them AND myself I can teach big classes), spending time with friends and family, writing, being healthy, and at the bottom, taking time for myself
The thing about priority lists is they are constantly in flux … changing as your needs change and as you accomplish things on said list. I think my top priorities right now go something like this: Baby’s health, Job, Sweets, SoMi, Preparing house for a new baby, Personal health / working out.
Wow I’m so impressed by Eric’s cooking, that sounds like a really relaxing night! I think you seem to have your priorities figured out, and for someone in their early twenties I don’t think that’s all that crazy to have your work first. I want to make one of these lists now.. I feel like mine would look pretty similar to yours, minus the whole marathon training thing.. haha
Why don’t you ask Eric to come along to Yog a class? Perhaps, he likes it, too and you could spend some time together…
Haha, unfortunately Eric is not a yogi at all! We’ve done DVD’s at home a few times together but it’s not his thing. I definitely don’t think he’d join me at an actual class, especially not Hot Yoga!!
Ok. I didn’t know that. But, of course, then it’s out of question
Wow – he is a CHEF!!!! What an incredible dinner!!!
My priorities are (in no particular order):
- Spending time with my hubby
- Spending time with friends and family
- Blog
- School (Masters program)
- Work
Such a lucky lady! That meal looks sooo good!
My list, from most important to least:
- Work/Freelance work
- Packing up the house for moving
- Breathing
That’s about it. I can’t think of anything else of my list of priorities. Hygiene should probably be in there
That’s so awesome that Eric had dinner all prepared for you when you came home! I would take that any day.
-work
-work
-work
-work
-sleep
-work
Um, does Eric have a brother? Because I need a man who can cook. I can’t.
I just read Caitlin’s blog about this and was thinking of making my own list, so here it is:
-School
-Me time/Mom time
-Blogging/commenting on blogs
-Exercise
-Cleaning
ok that looks YUMMY!!!
my priorities go hand and hand with yours!
1 – so jealous – if i ever posted a photo of what my fiance cooks for me you’d all probably tell me to run for the hills.
my priorities – they’re so out of whack – i can hardly think straight these days. I have about 6million life changes ahead of me in the next few months.
Haha Eric was greater than yoga in my house last night too
I think it’s hard to decide if Eric or work is more top priority for me. I try my best to make time for both, not really putting one ahead of the other. I manage those two pretty well, it’s everything after that which gets a little blurry
I should make a list at some point!
The remaining of my funds are going to be spent on sending Tyler to Kamloops so he can take lessons from Eric …. where did this boy come from?!?!?
I am so glad you seem to be doing well! My priority list when I go back to Edmonton should look like this ..
#1 – Internship
#2- Exercise, keep up with my running improvements
#3- Tyler
#4 – Jade and Friends
#5 – continue learning to cook
#6 – cleaning
BUT, I am fairly sure it will end up like this …
#1 – Internship
#2 – Tyler, Jade, Friends
#3 – Stressing over spending too much money with #2
#4 – exercise
#5 – cooking
…. and cleaning will not even be a thought. Maybe now that you have made me think of how it should be, it may become a reality!
What what? That dinner looks amazing. Does Eric want to come over and cook for me?
That dinner looks awesome. I’d like to come home to the hubby cooking me that dinner. How are you doing with the no meat thing? I’m considering it as well.
I just did the same thing on my blog today. I used the same idea as Caitlin also. You can check it out here: http://herinnershine.blogspot.com/2010/08/organization-part-ii.html.
The weird thing is that I’m totally a type-A, go-getter, 4.0, stay late at the office type..yet spending time with my husband is way up at the top. The longer we’re married the more I want to spend time with him and the less important other things become!
My priority list has been thrown out of whack by the wedding. Right now it looks like this:
1) Family (I include Daisy – my puppy) and God
2) Wedding Planning
3) Career
4) Half Marathon Training
5) Training Generally
Yeah, I’d stay home from hot yoga for that delicious meal and time with the bf.
As for priorities…there will be definitely periods in our lives when things shift, priorities change, it doesn’t mean that it will be that way forever, of course.
Um, I don’t even live there and I love that Eric’s living with you!!
Nice moves, man!!
My priorities right now are: finding a job, blogging + freelance work, Jesse & The Puppies & I, Yoga, my ‘old job’, and then having time to rest up. It feels a little out of whack lol Please send help?
I don’t think it’s silly that marathon is #2 on your list. It’s actually great!!
My priorities are: sticking to our budget & save money, work out regularly, blog designing, and planning my parents’ big surprise 50th & 60th Birthday party coming up in November.
Great idea!
Mine: Work (both full time and side) – tied in with managing our money well and saving
Taking the time/money to make sure we eat decently, both lunches and dinners, throughout the week
Quality BF time
Quality me time – reading, blogging, playing guitar
Exercise/running
Keeping the house tidy, laundry etc
That dinner looks amazing!
Mmm, everything looks yummy!
My priority list looks horrible right now. I mean, I guess work would be first, but I definitely don’t want it to be. I want school and my marriage to be my first priority. School is sort of put as second right now. I’d love to actually GO TO classes again, but with my full time job, it’s hard to do anything but online classes. I don’t mind them, but I miss the interaction of a real classroom.
I’ve been very bitter about how my priorities fall as of lately. I’m still trying to figure out what I WANT them to be. Spending time with friends is way down on my list, but I want it to be higher up. Friday, I’m going out with a friend that I haven’t seen in months because of our busy schedules. I’m excited about it!
