Confessions (2)
First, I really need more submissions for the next workplace fashion post! I was hoping to do it next Monday but I only have a couple submissions right now. The theme is CASUAL FRIDAY – but if you work in a casual office, you could just submit an outfit that you wear any day of the week!
If you want to participate, email me (amber@girlwiththeredhair.com) a photo of you in your outfit with the following info:
1. Name
2. URL
3. Where you got the outfit
4. Your thoughts on casual Friday and/or casual workplaces
THANK YOU!

OK, time for another confessions post!
- I’m so, so, SO ready for Fall. Heat, humidity, sunshine begone! I am ready to see my breath when I head out for a cool, crisp run in the morning, wear boots and sweaters to work and watch the leaves turn colour.
- I am not, however, ready for winter. Can’t it be fall all year long?
- I’ve been having some arch pain in my right foot lately and because of this I’ve cut back on my runs this week. I’m way more upset about this then I should be. I cried about it last night. I hate the feeling that my body is failing me, it is so disheartening when I am working so freaking hard.
- As I’m sure you’ve all noticed, I’m taking the blog in a slightly different direction. More healthy living/food/running focused than ever. I’m excited about these changes and the new direction I’m taking but also worried that my readers won’t like it. Ya, ya, I know blogging is supposed to be “for me”. But my favourite part of blogging is the interaction that happens. So pleasing my readers to some extent IS important to me!
- I’ve barely rode my bike at all. Every Sunday night I BBM Lisa and say “Ya, I’m going to try and go for a bike ride in the morning.” and every Monday morning I BBM her again and say, “Ya, I didn’t go biking this morning…” Training for a marathon is hard enough as it is. I’m just glad I didn’t spend $800 on a bike now!
- Eric is going back to school full-time this fall (more details on this in later post) and I think I’m more excited to go school supply shopping than he is. Scratch that, I’m DEFINITELY more excited than he is! Dare I say that I’m a little sad I’m not returning to school this September for the first time in 17 years. Well, I am. Just a little bit.
What are your confessions this week?

Confession: I don’t want to go back to work – can it be summer holidays forever???
1. I LOVE school shopping so much! It seriously my favorite kind of shopping haha.
2. I like the direction you’re taking your blog, I don’t think you’ll lose readers. People read your blog because they like keeping up with YOU and where ever your life is going at the time, so if it’s going towards health and fitness, take your blog that way too.
3. Good luck with the arch pain! I wish I could offer you some advice but that’s one thing I haven’t face yet. I’m sure a little bit of rest will make it all better and won’t sacrifice your training.
sorry to hear about your foot. have you tried compression socks? or maybe you just need a day of rest. (that’s always the hardest for me.) and i love healthy-living/fitness blogs, looking forward to seeing where your blog goes
my confession: i had a wine tasting event last night and now need a sugar detox.
I totally hear you on running pains and your body failing you. I hope it gets better quickly!
You and Lisa and your need for fall. Fall = the coming of winter, you should never wish for it haha.
I’m excited about Eric going back to school- I thought that was next fall? I love love love back to school shopping! When you say you are going back just a bit, are you taking a class? I’m thinking about taking one but I can’t decide if I’m ready to go back to papers and tests, ah!
I’m a fan of what you’re doing with the bloggity blog…
And I love fall. If it could be fall all year round, I’d be a happy girl! Totally!
I love going school supplies shopping. Before Matt started law school, I went crazy at the store. Then I had to put some of it back because he didnt really need it. At least I got permanent markers for myself out of it.
Im with you on sitting out. My shin is starting to act up again. Im going to buy new shoes hopefully today and if those dont help, I am done. And that is so upsetting
I know that I’ve only started recently reading your blog, but I love it! You have such a unique voice and a wonderful writing style.
I am with you on pretty much all of your confessions. I am so ready for fall and BOOTS and leaves and pumpkin spice lattes. That is all.
The first Fall “out” of school is a little weird – but you’ll love the feeling once Final exams roll around and you have no stresses
Exciting for Eric, though!
Confession: I just bought an f’ing Justin Bieber cd. Yes, I am like 12 years old now apparently. In my defense, I was in dire need of some fun running music… But yah, kind of ashamed of that…
Confession: I have been worried lately that I won’t PR in Portland. I know I need to prepare myself mentally for that to not happen… But if I don’t PR, I will be SO PISSED. I mean, last time around i think I ran maybe 3-4 times per week and I ran way less miles. And then i didn’t even taper. So really, if I can’t beat that performance, I will be so pissed at myself…
* Hang in there regarding re-shuffling your runs this week. Don’t beat yourself up too much. Just think about me and my ankle injury that happened in July!! I got through that, we’ll get through this, too. Ok? I promise.
Totally agree with you on the fall/winter thing…
I’m with you on the fall thing! And I think whatever direction you take this blog we’ll love!
I think at this point, most of us are ready for fall. I’m not sure what happened to summer this year but whatever it is, I’m ready for it to be over as well. Hooray for Eric for going back to school!
I’m taking my 13 and 15 year old cousins back to school shopping in Pittsburgh over the weekend and I can’t wait. Its so much fun for all of us and we always have a great time. I am however, not looking forward to having students at the university (where I work) move back on campus. That happens tomorrow.
Oh Oh! I’ll do the Casual Friday outfit… but can I send it to you tomorrow? Usually my office is casual, but today is a big boardroom meeting day so I am most definitely not casual.
I feel like I’m the only one who’s NOT ready for fall! I could bask in 30 degree sunshine all year long, and here, fall is so short-lived that it seems more an “enjoy it while it lasts, because in two weeks you’ll have winter for another 7 months” type season!
I have casual friday almost every day. I’ll try to get an outfit photo for you, sounds like fun
I love the direction your blog is going in, but that’s probably because I’m from the health blogger sphere.
It would be amazing if it could be fall-like temps forever.
Confession:
Sometimes I want to go school supply shopping even though I don’t need any products! I just miss the smell of empty notebooks, organizing my backpack the night before school starts, labeling every single binder & notebook for each class. (And yes, in case you couldn’t tell, I was a big geek!)
I’m ready for fall as well. I really can’t wait!
I took my nephew back to school shopping on Monday and I’m kinda sad I didn’t get to buy anything for me! No new clothes, no new daytimer, no new pens….
take it easy on the foot. that was EXACTLY what happened to me during marathon training. do some stretching with it and hopefully you can catch it before it gets bad like mine!
I looooove school supply shopping! It’s one of my favourite things to do. Or at least it was.
My confession? I think I took on too much agreeing to write 12 freelance stories. I may have a mental breakdown when the deadline comes around.
I’d help you out on your Casual Friday post by my sub-par sense of style would do you no good. I usually opt for jeans and a solid color t-shirt. I’m so boring…
I love back to school shopping, it’s so sad that I haven’t been in school for a few years. I get giddy in the aisles this time of year and end up purchasing a new pen or notebook or something. I just can’t help it!
I can’t wait for fall either! I’m so over the heat.
I relate to wanting the blog to cater somewhat to readers too. We don’t want to blog our hearts out to nobody.
Amber, I think it’s exciting that you’re deciding to move the blog in a more healthy living focus. What’s best for you is best for the blog bc you’ll be more excited to write! I definitely miss going back to school each fall. I want to go back!
I’m sorry to hear about your arch pain! No fun at all! I hope it heals quick!
School shopping is my absolute favorite. I went to buy a new binder, filler paper, and a new planner and I seriously could have spent so much more money!
Congratulations on not returning to school!! You’re home free now!
I’ve only ridden my bike twice this year, I’m so ashamed! Maybe the fall is a better time to cruise anyway…
Ohh I need to submit an outfit! I am also excited for fall (and no more humidity) but I am SO NOT ready for winter. I agree, can it be fall all year?
I absolutely LOVE shopping for school supplies.
I’m ready for a lack of humidity. It has cooled off a little this week (It was 85 F the other day, and I LOVED it, and it’s supposed to be 82 F on Friday!), so I’m looking forward to being outside more and biking and running. One of my goals this fall is to run AT LEAST twice a week. Since I run zero times a week now, I’m looking forward to it.
