RIP Granny

Yesterday I learned that my 86-year-old Great-Grandma passed away.

She’s been sick for a few months now, so I am 100% certain that she is in a better place but that doesn’t make it any easier. Especially since when her and my grandma visited me last September she was doing so well.

I was thinking all day yesterday about the post I would write talking about what an amazing G.G. she was (we always called her GG or Granny), how she wrote and published a book about her childhood and how five years ago she was still riding her bike around town.

But when I sat down to write this post last night I kind of got stuck and couldn’t find the words. So here are a few photos that I had on my computer. I wish I had more.

My grandma, mom, me and Granny last Christmas.

R.I.P. Granny. You will be greatly missed by many, many people. XO

My GGMa is 99. She’s lived a long and adventurous life. She was a working single mother when they didn’t really exist. She is the epitome of feminism (amidst the macho culture of Latin America). But most of all she is kind and loving to no end.

I know for a fact she’s looking forward to dancing at my wedding in November. She won’t be here much longer and that was a big impetus behind our photography and cinematography options.

When she passes I know I will feel just as you do now. Your entire family gas my deepest and most sincere condolences.

I’m sorry. It sounds like she lived a full and long life, though.
It’s wonderful that you got to spend so much time with her before she got sick.

Oh, Amber … I’m so sorry to hear about your GG (I have a GG too!). I love that you all thought to take photos with all four generations - I don’t have anything like that and I’m sure you’ll treasure them. The hand shot is great!
