One.
After basically not eating, or eating very little, for three days my appetite returned in full force last night. I was devouring everything within sight. Chocolate? Check. Dill pickle chips? Check. Vegetarian Chili? Check. The last of our Tzatiki and pita bread? Check. All of that within a two-hour time period? Check!
Two.
Remember how I randomly ran a 15K race last year? Well it’s this weekend and I’m pretty sure I’m going to randomly run it again. Even though I’ve only ran four times in the last month and not once in this past week. I’ll run today, and then 15K on Sunday. Good idea? I think so
I’ll take it easy of course, I’m thinking I’ll do 9:1 or 8:2 running to walking ratios, or even more walking if I need it. And of course no pressure to PR!
Three.
I’ve been reminiscing our trip a lot lately, and missing it! This weekend it will be two weeks since we’ve been back in Canada. Two weeks, people! I do not feel like a) it’s been that long or b) like I’ve fully adapted to being back yet! Although it probably doesn’t help that my first day back at work was yesterday. Whoops! Maybe now I will finally get back on track with my schedule and not feel so scatter-brained and all over the place? We can only hope!
Four.
Confession: I haven’t eaten meat for two weeks. Neither has Eric. I started reading the book Eating Animals on our way back from Calgary last week and it has TOTALLY ruined my appetite for meat. Obviously I knew what the book was about (kind of) but I did NOT go into it with the intention of not eating meat anymore, seriously! But now (and I’m only 3/4 through it) the idea of eating meat makes me feel sick. A full review should be coming next week. This book is intense and I can’t wait to share my thoughts on it and how I plan to continue adapting my eating habits!
Five.
Aww, shucks, after staring at a blank screen for awhile the best I could think of for number five is:
I MISS WEBSTER! And can’t wait to see him in five sleeps!
Saddd, I know.
Anyhoo, why don’t you go ahead and tell me what you’re doing this weekend in the comments? And all you U.S. readers, have a lovely long weekend, I’m jealous. I hope yours doesn’t get ruined by strep throat

I hope it doesn’t get ruined by strep throat either! Good luck with your 15K! I plan to see Sex and the City 2 this weekend and do lots and lots of reading!
I’m surprised you haven’t written an entire post on missing Webster! You haven’t seen him in aaaaaaaaaaagggggggeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssss, and after your freak out when he escaped while you were moving house, I think we all know just how loving a fur-mum you are.
I’m glad you’re feeling better now and have got your appetite back. I’d love to read that book - I think I need to start reading some of these food/health/fitness books to kick-start me and get me back on track.
This weekend I’m planning on getting back on track - I’ve been utterly lazy all week long and I need to start DOING things again. I’m getting really angry with myself for just vegetating on the couch all day long.
I’m probably working all weekend-AND the Memorial Holiday on Monday. Oh well.
This book sounds interesting - but I don’t know if I could read it because I don’t think I coudl do a vegetarian lifestyle! I do buy my meat from a local farmer who gets it butchered by a local guy. I try my hardest not to buy meat from a grocery store because it disgusts me (esp after watching Food, Inc).
You know what I am doing this weekend.
Awkward adventure, here I come. I am looking forward to it, though. I love weddings. I just hope I don’t cry when the bride walks down the aisle like I usually do (even when I don’t know the freaking bride, I am such a sap). It woudl be awkward to cry in front of an ex or 2. Not sure if I will be sittign w/ them during the wedding, though!
Randomly running races is fun! Good luck in the 15K this weekend. I hope you have a blast!
Yea for random races! I wish you luck! And have a good weekend!
well I’m glad you’re feeling somewhat better. take it easy when you do your 15k!
how does your body feel after not eating meat? I know when i eat beef - which is like once in a blue moon now, my body totally hates it now! it’s like WHAT did you just put in me? which i guess is a good thing!
Glad to hear that you are finally feeling better! Strep throat is no fun at all.
I have no plans this weekend, which is awesome! We are busy for the next four weekends, so it will be nice to have nothing to do. (well maybe that’s a lie, there is always wedding stuff to do!)
I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS WEEKEND TO BEGIN!!! And we’re finally going to have our house to ourselves again!!! YAY I loved my dad being there but i need a break….plus he’ll be back before the baby arrives
Good luck with your race this weekend!! I’ll be at a race this weekend too. Steve is running the full and Sheldon is running the half. Should be interesting, Steve has done some training but Sheldon hasn’t done any….eeepppps!!
Either tonight or tomorrow Steve is taking me to Sex and the City 2. I CAN’T WAIT!!
We’ll also be putting the babies room together….we have a bunch of stuff but haven’t put it all together or in the babies room since we’ve had visitors for like a month and half lol Plus Steve is in a panic now that the doc told us on Wednesday that the baby is starting to drop lol
Hope you have a great weekend and feel better (my soar throat is gone…thank God….i have the immune system of steal since i’ve been pregnant)
I cannot wait for the weekend, but I really hope the weather gets better! D. is flying in from Hamilton to run the 1/2 and Carol is running the full on Sunday. I’m the official cheerleader. I think we’re taking D’s kids out to Drumheller to see the dinosaur museum and probably hitting Banff on Sunday to see mountains.
Have a great weekend and take it easy on your 15K LSD!
H =)
That book is on my reading list for the month! I have an unofficial book club, and we’re talking about it next week (ah!). To be honest, I haven’t had “meat” (aside from fish, which isn’t really meat) in over a month. I watched “Food Inc” with the intention to get caught up on the hype and see what they had to say - I ended the movie completely disgusted by things that 1) I already knew but 2) didn’t ever Really think about. My appetite for meat/chicken has been completely destroyed, but I think its for the best!
Anyway! ha. Good luck on the race if you do it!! This weekend will be some running and a lot of relaxing/enjoying the weather for me and the boy
Good luck with the race this weekend! I love that you’re going to do it even though you haven’t been in running mode lately, and that you’re totally okay with some walking when necessary. I think the thought of ‘Oh God I have to RUN for 15km!’ scares some people out of trying out some races’ and it’s like, the world isn’t going to explode if you break to walk here and there! Your attitude is delightful, and I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better!
This weekend it’s work, work, work. Having two jobs is a pain sometimes. But I’m pretty sure I rang Eric and his (I think) mom through my checkout the other night. He’s so quiet, it’s cute!
So glad you’re feeling better!!! Being sick in the spring/summer is NO fun at all and just seems wrong, ya know?
I have to work all weekend (typical, huh?) but am off on Monday so I’m hoping it’s nice so I can lay out and get me some vitamin D.
Have a great weekend!
Amber!!! I want to read this book you speak of. I am proud of you for not eating meat. I don’t know what it is about it… but it feels good to not eat it. I’m surprised that Eric hasn’t eaten it either - good for you guys. It is fun to branch out and try different ways of eating. I just hate how the media has brainwashed us into thinking that we need to eat meat for protein, we need to drink milk for healthy bones, etc. Not true!
Anyways, good luck with the race this weekend and hope you are feeling better! I was also so sick this week - had to take 2 days off work!
We’ll have to get together soon. Miss you!
Haven’t eaten meat…. I wanna read it - but I don’t! I love STEAK!…
Good luck in your marathon!!!
And I totally hear you on missing Webster! Its SO lonely when they are gone!!
I miss my trip to Europe and it happened FOUR years ago haha, so that might not go away! I’m glad you are starting to feel back to normal and I hope you can enjoy this weekend a little more!
You’re too funny just running a race on the whim. Sounds like a fun adventure though! Be careful. Weekend plans: watching manfriend’s bike race, spending some time in the sun…maybe hiking or the beach, long run-12mi, bike ride, bbq with friends. Have a great weekend!
I’m glad you’re feeling better! This weekend is my first alone with Topher ~ Nathan’s volunteering at a youth conference today, tomorrow and Sunday. I’ve been alone with him for just over 2 hours and we’re both still alive, so I guess I’m diong okay
This weekend I am going to a street festival in my city, and out for supper with my dad for his birthday. I am also going to Saskatoon to visit my mom, and I am possibly running a 5K - if the weather is decent.
Have fun running this weekend!! It took me so long to get back in a routine after vacation! I still miss it and can’t even blog about it cuz I want to go back. Maybe eventually I will so I can remember it better but not for a while! Lol I’m weird!!!
Good luck on your 15K! I think it’s amazing that you’re going to run it, after barely running over the past couple weeks. You’ll do great!
yesterday was my last day of school for the year.. kind of bittersweet… got tipsy last night but my allergies were kicking in and i was home by 9 and fell asleep at my computer and wentto bed at 11.. woke up today on my first day ofsummervacation at 6:33!!!! ugh.. supposed to be a fun weekend of friends, sun and boating.. can’t wait! right now i am drinking my coffee and thinking about going to the farmer’s market! hope your run goes welltomorrow!
Good luck if you end up running the 15K! Glad to hear you’re feeling better!
Hope your 15K went well. Is the last day of a long weekend here and its been fantastic. I went to Amish country on Friday, a race for my grandpap Saturday morning (he did a 20K in 85 degree heat with 100% humidity) and a concert Saturday afternoon and evening with friends. It was great. Now I am just vegging and relaxing. Hope you had a great weekend!
