A Wedding and a Funeral

As much as I would have loved to stay home and relax and SLEEP on my first weekend back in Canada – I didn’t. I was a busy bee!

On Friday Eric and I headed out on a road trip to Williams Lake, B.C. (about three hours north of Kamloops) so Eric could stand up for his cousin Shawn in his wedding. It was a really nice wedding and fun to see a whole bunch of family at once. I tagged along when they went to take photos of the wedding party and snapped a few of the groomsmen while the actual photographer was taking pictures of the bride and bridesmaids!

It was fun playing “wedding photographer” for a bit. Here’s some pictures I took. Eric with all of the other groomsmen and the groom.

This is when we told them to get ready to jump on three…

…apparently getting six grown men to jump straight up in the air is harder than one would think.

And here’s one of me and Eric. Didn’t he look handsome?! :)

It was an all-around fun day, weddings are exhausting though (even if you are a guest)! My favourite part of weddings is definitely when people go up to make speeches about the bride and groom. They are just so touching and, often, hilarious. I was laughing and crying at the same time on Saturday!

Then yesterday I did a complete reversal, donned all black and attended the funeral of my best friends ex-boyfriend, who passed much too soon. To say that this weekend was emotionally exhausting would be an understatement. I’m definitely cried out of happy and sad tears after attending a wedding and a funeral back-to-back.

Thank goodness it’s a long weekend in Canada this weekend so I am at home today, doing laundry and getting the last of my “life catch-up” done before starting back at work tomorrow. I can’t believe we’ve already been home from our trip for a week and I’ve been off work for a MONTH. How does time fly so fast?!?!

So, how was everyone’s weekend? And what’s your favourite part of weddings?

I hear you on weddings being exhausting! You are so lucky you have today off- the wedding I was at on Saturday was a Canadian bride so they did it this weekend so her traveling guests would have an extra day, which was smart…although since I attended two weddings this weekend I think I REALLY need an extra day haha. Though I’ll definitely take 2 weddings over a wedding and a funeral, I don’t wish attending funerals on anyone, especially when they are for young people.

Let’s see my favorite parts of weddings are cocktail hour, speeches (when they are good haha…) and dancing! Though I’m starting to realize that serving people a big meal right before dancing is a bad idea- I’m always more excited to dance right after cocktail hour. Funny.

I am sorry about your friend’s ex. At least the wedding was fun! Your dress is amazing. I had to do jumping picture once for a wedding and I will never do it again!! They look so goofy (not to mention they told us to do it with heels on and I got stuck in the dirt)

Favorite part of a wedding is probably the first dance.

Talk about a weekend of highs & lows… I am sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. :(

Onto happier subjects – you & Eric sure look fabulous together. Eric looks so dapper! i am a sucker for a man in a tux or a suit!

It’s hard to pick my favorite part of the wedding… I have a couple:
- watching the bride walk down the aisle with her dad
- watching the groom’s look on his face when he sees the bride walking down the aisle
- the speeches
- the first dance

I have a wedding this weekend and then I think that is it for a long time as all of my friends in the area are married!!

That kind of scares me that your favorite part of weddings are the speeches, that must mean people remember them.. ahhh help me write my MOH speech for Kelly! haha
Sorry to hear about your friend’s ex, quite the emotional weekend! Take some time to relax and regroup – you deserve it!

You two look very cute. One of my fav parts is the bride and groom looking into each others eyes and holding hands or just the joy on everyone’s face during the reception.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your best friend’s ex-boyfriend, but the wedding certainly did look like a lot of fun! I love the photos where you’re trying to get them to jump up at once! :)

my favorite part of weddings are when the groom sees the bride for the first time as she walks down the aisle. it gets me every time. everyone else stares at the bride, but i stare at the groom so that I can see his face. It’s always a tender moment.

Wow, talk about two totally different experiences: a wedding and a funeral. I’m sorry it was such an emotional weekend and I hope you can take what’s left of today to regroup and prepare for work tomorrow.

Also, I LOVE the color of your dress! It looks perfect on you!!

Hey Amber – great shot of you and Eric!! I totally agree with you, he looks very handsome standing beside a beautiful woman like you ;)

I am glad you were there for Jenny, She said the service was very nice! I had a good cry last night thinking about all of the memories we had with him.

Favorite part of a wedding – the wedding itself – especially if the bride and groom write their own vows (and others can hear them). And the love in their eyes when they look at each other!

Enjoy the rest of your day off!! What up for the coming week? When do you start your job or are you just doing free lance (??)

My favourite part of weddings is the look on the groom’s face when he sees the bride walking down the aisle. Everyone takes pictures of the bride but I try to capture the groom in that moment :)

LOL I’m still loosing it over those pics!! Hilarious!!
I’d have to say my fav part is when the bride makes her enterance and everyone see’s her…..I’m so not a crier but its like its me up there all over again. I can feel the love she has for her soon to be husband at that moment. I would do that part of the wedding over and over again :)
By the way I never got a chance to tell you that I LOVED your fabulous green dress!
I agree about weddings being exhausting, i could use this week off or at least today @_@

Aw, that is a lot of emotion in one weekend! You two look great, I love that dress :)

My favorite part of weddings is when they introduce the bride n’ groom “for the first time” at the reception – it seems so “official” after that, ha.
