Countdowns

Sometimes, like right now, when all my responsibilities (mostly school) are really stressing me out, I like to think about the great things that are coming up in my life.

Ya, ya, I know, I know. Live in the moment. Blah, blah, blah.

But would life be any fun if we didn’t have anything to look forward to? I don’t think so.

Here’s a few things that I’m currently counting down to…

10 sleeps until Eric gets here.

33 sleeps until I write my last final exam and finish off my undergraduate degree.

46 sleeps until the Europe trip!

214 sleeps until the Portland Marathon. (Which I finally officially registered for. Read about it here.)

What are you counting down to?

  18. mandy says:

I love that you countdown in sleeps and that you have so much to look forward to! I am looking forward to a weekend getaway to QVC with my mom and a family friend, some concerts this summer, and right now, the first day of Spring!

  19. Chelsea says:

I have short term countdowns and life countdowns. No middle ground… my head can’t handle it.

One day until I get to see my cousin pitch.
Three days until I get to go to Austin and see friends and go to a wedding.
Four days until my niece is baptized.
And then 192 days until I have a baby. (Yes, I had to look that up!)

  20. Carissa says:

hey Amber! long time no comment! sorry about that!! I’m so so bad. like you, I have been super stressed with everything going on, aka, work. I actually need to be finishing a story right now but I wanted to say hello real quick!

I think having things to look forward to definitely makes getting through stressful times easier– and you have a lot of exciting things coming up! I wish I had something to look forward to, but it seems like all that is in front of me is more work. I was hoping to take a vacation at the end of the month but it seems that might not happen. but we’ll see. *fingers crossed*

anyway, hope you are doing good and I’ll try to be back to commenting more regularly soon!

p.s. I always think it is so funny how you countdown in “sleeps.” so cute. is that a Canadian thing or an Amber thing? :)

  21. Ha…your countdowns crack me up. Crazy how quickly everything happens. I need something to look forward to. It’s been far too long since I’ve had some sort of girls vacation.

  22. Kara says:

Counting down in sleeps was probably my favourite method of counting when I was little!

There’s only 10 sleeps until Kyle and I go to Vancouver. I think that’s the only thing I’m counting down to for now!

  23. Stephany says:

I’m constantly counting down to something. I just love it!

    Right now…

31 days until my 5K race
58 days until this awful semester is finished
    9 months until I graduate!!!!!

And then once I get my cruise plans finalized, I can start counting down for that. Yay!

  24. Nikki says:

Right now I’m counting down until the Illinois half/my friend’s visit from Texas: 7.5 weeks
And then I’ll be counting down until the 6 wk insanely busy season at work is over!!!

  25. Tammy says:

    I LOVE COUNTDOWNS!!!

6 sleeps till I go to Vegas
    18 sleeps till Mexico
    22 sleeps till I turn 29.
147 sleeps till we go to Detroit lakes for We Fest
290 days till CHRISTMAS!!! (hee hee – not that I am really counting down to that, but its always fun to think about)

    Have a super day Amber!!

  26. amanda says:

mines pretty simple with kids u kinda live day by day but only 10 more sleeps until i get to see my momma in fsj, its wierd we all wanted to leave now we cant wait to get back

  27. BostonRunner says:

I love having things to look forward to, but then I’m always torn because I don’t want to be so busy looking at the future that I forget about the present! Right now, I’m pretty content with time haha. If I’m counting down to anything, it’s probably the end of midterms: 8 days. Other than that, everything else can wait.. I’m not ready for them! (ie. half-marathon: I have to train, kelly’s wedding: I have to write my speech) haha

  29. Ashley says:

I just realized last night that the end of the school year is rapidly approaching. I’m not graduating or anything, but I’m so looking forward to not working nights for a few months. I don’t mind it normally, but I look forward to relaxing evenings.

With all you’ve got going on, I’m sure the next month will fly!

  30. nicole says:

    I love how you countdown!!!

13 sleeps until SPRING break!!!!!! I’m so excited!

There are many countdowns i have going on but i lost track of the days… must count again!!!

    YAY countdowns!

I love having things to be excited about!

  31. I agree, something to look forward to is *always* important! :) thinking ahead…

Right now – my countdown is solely focused on the marathon! 9 days….omg omg omg

  32. Jessica says:

So much to look forward to. Honestly, I’m not counting down to anything right now…kind of sad :(

  33. 16 sleeps until I’m sitting on a beach with a fruity cocktail in my hand.

  34. Anais says:

Awesome!!!! I guess the things I’m counting down to are the half-marathon, being done with my papers, being done with my RESEARCH paper (yikes) and… hopefully going to Europe at some point to go see my parents :) Countdown to getting a job as well I guess…
