in amber and eric, happiness, home, weekend

Sorry for no post yesterday, I don’t even have the excuse of saying I had no computer at home as I borrowed my co-workers macbook for a few days, but I just didn’t have the energy to do the post. It’s midterm time and my brain is tired. I studied I crammed from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM yesterday for a marketing midterm yesterday afternoon. I took a 1.5 hour break in there to go for a run and clear my head. Speaking of running, I have a new gig as the Kamloops Running Examiner, so if you want some more of me, go here and subscribe. I’ll be posting 3-4 times a week about running, training and running in Kamloops!

Anyways, enough of the depressing midterm stuff, I want to tell you guys all about my fabulous weekend home because Eric absolutely spoiled me!

First, he surprised me by picking me up from the airport when I thought he’d be working and was expecting my mom. He had these for me.

Now, Eric had been telling me on the phone for the past few days that he had a surprise planned for me to celebrate Valentines Day and our anniversary, so obviously I thought this was it.

I was then informed that Eric was sending me to the spa on Friday afternoon for a manicure, pedicure, massage and facial and he had booked us a jacuzzi hotel room for two nights at the nicest hotel in town AND he bought us tickets to see a play on Saturday night.

Wow. I was completely floored.

So, Friday afternoon I headed to the spa to get pampered. Let me tell you, I’ve been a little stressed lately and this was just what I needed. What a relaxing four hours! I fell asleep during the facial, love facials!

For your viewing pleasure, my pasty white hand and feet after my mani/pedi!

We then checked into our jacuzzi hotel room on Friday night, ordered a crapload of room service (isn’t room service, like, the best thing ever?) and watched movies all night and all morning Saturday. We seriously just laid in bed and watched movies until noon on Saturday AND Sunday. I don’t even remember the last time I stayed in bed that long! It was so relaxing and nice.

Also, I so want a king-sized bed one day. Most amazing thing ever.

And then, probably the sweetest thing of all, was him taking me to the theatre on Saturday night. I really, really enjoy going to see live plays but it’s really not Eric’s thing. At all.

Even nicer (on his part) was he took me to see the Vagina Monologues.

Which was actually REALLY good and funny! The overall message was awesome too; basically, embrace being a woman! I thoroughly enjoyed it, even Eric liked it. And contrary to what the above photo shows, there actually were quite a few men in the audience! Haha.

Since the event was raising money for the Women’s Resource Society in Fort St. John I had to make a donation afterwards and invest in a vagina cupcake.

It was delicious! Totally hit the spot on my cupcake craving ;)

So obviously I had an absolutely fantastic weekend. I was very, very sad to leave come Sunday evening.

Staying in a hotel is SO MUCH FUN! I wish I could do it more often, I just love ordering room service and not having to clean up after myself :)

Do you like to stay in hotels? And have you ever seen the Vagina Monologues?

PS: My new computer is here…… :D

That sounds like the most amazing weekend ever!!! The Vagina Monologues came to my campus while I was in college - what a great play. I also completely agree with you about the king bed - they just feel so luxurious! (Did you know they don’t make big enough box springs for king beds so you have to use two twins?) Wahoo for your new computer!!!

That sounds like such a perfect weekend! I totally agree with you about hotels. I never sleep that awesome in them (though they did convince me to get a king sized bed!) but I LOVE not having to clean up after myself and enjoying everything that a hotel has to offer! I love the vagina cupcake hahaha

Hotels are so much fun to stay in! We always used to stay in them for Basketball and track trips in college. It was so much fun to be with so many people! Sounds like Eric really did spoil you!! Looks like so much fun! I need a pedicure just to get my toes looking semi normal because they get so beat up from running!

Wow, sounds fabulous and wonderful! I’ve seen the V-Monologues, but it was a long time ago and I’d like to see it again. There’s a show playing at my university sometime in the next little while, so hopefully I get to see it. I generally like staying in hotels…I’m excited, I’m going to Vegas in a few months and we’re staying at the Bellagio. I’ve never stayed in a 5 star hotel, but I imagine I will be quite impressed.

aww this sounds like such an amazing weekend! You totally deserve it! I’m so happy : )
I love staying in hotels! ..well for a reasonable amount of time I wouldn’t want to like live in them haha. But room service and not having to clean and just getting away/change of scenery is awesome! Glad you had such an awesome weekend!!

I am glad that you were so deservedly pampered on your trip home. Spending the weekend just lounging in bed, watching movies, ordering room service is simply divine.

Hoorary for new computers!

Sounds like Eric treated you to an amazing weekend while you were home! I agree on the king bed thing…we had one when we went away this past weekend and it was amazing!! We have a queen at home but it doesn’t compare.

Congratulations on the new writing job!

Eric certainly went all out to give you the perfect weekend! I would have been sad to see it end, too!

I agree that hotels are a lot of fun (as long as they are nice!), and you definitely need to invest in a king size bed one day. My hubby and I just bought one last week, and we’re pretty much in love with it. There’s so much room to stretch out, yet we can also meet in the middle and cuddle. ;) Before our purchase, we were sleeping on a full size bed that was mine before we were married, and let’s just say, it was really, really SNUG with me, my hubby, and our space-hogging puppy!

I’ve never seen the Vagina Monologues, but I’ve always wanted to! Maybe one day.

Awe, Eric is such a sweet guy :) I am so glad you got spoiled. I love the vagina cupcake!!

I stayed in a suite on the same floor as the LA Lakers in Vegas a year ago and I loved it. The beds were HUGE and SOFT! The room service rocked as well.

King size beds…. love them!

I did see the Vagina Monologues in college, I think. Such an intense, awesome experience. I laughed, I cried. We did not, however, have the opportunity to purchase vagina cupcakes.

Also, Eric? He’s amazingly awesome. Sounds like the perfect weekend! I don’t suppose he has any awesome friend stateside!? :) (and now that I know you were at a hotel all weekend I’m sorry I BBM’ed you on Friday; I hope it didn’t bug or interrupt your time together!)

King size beds are A.Maze.Ing. I love staying in hotels simply for the giant beds!

I would never be able to convince Kyle go to see the Vagina Monologues. Eric’s a brave man! And that cupcake is hilarious in the way that it would be really awkward to lick all the icing off the top. Now pardon me while I pull my mind out of the gutter >_<

I’ve seen the Vagina Monologues a few times and I’m really not a fan - I get grossed out/embarrassed way too easily :)

I do love staying in hotels though - I miss that a lot from my old job.

and yes, I have seen the Vagina Monologues, when I was in college. a couple girls in my German class, I believe, were in it and that’s why I went. it was hilarious, for sure, though I didn’t get a vagina cupcake! haha.

Yay for spoiling! You deserve it, girl, and I’m so happy you got this weekend away to be with Eric and get pampered!

I LOVE staying in hotels! It’s such an escape from reality and I only go when I’m on vacay so I always have something fun planned when I’m at one. It’s so much fun to just be in a hotel atmosphere and not have to deal with life for a short time! But leaving is the worst!

It sounds like Eric planned such an amazing weekend for you. I’m a little jealous, although I have to admit I’ve never had a facial.

And I think that cupcakes is really amazing, although I think I’d feel a little embarrassed to eat it. (That came out sounded far dirtier than I had intended, I promise!)
