Well, it’s officially been over a month since Christmas, which (ironically) means I need this post more than ever since I’m starting to really miss home. So here, is my recap of Christmas Day. Check out Part I and Part II to see some other photos from my December holiday!

Eric’s mom and my Grandma.

My brother and cousin.

For Christmas, my cousin (the one pictured above) put old VHS tapes onto DVD’s for my mom. There’s me rocking a bright green skirt, pink top and a bonnet when I was about 2.

Fred, my aunt’s fiance, can carve a rose out of tomato. A rose out of a TOMATO. So naturally I photographed this happening.

Apparently, Eric took this one because there I am peering over in the background! Haha

And, naturally, the evening ended with board games. And a bit of yelling at each other and “friendly” competition.

Like I said I’ve been getting a bit homesick lately, which is typical for me after about a month. Luckily, my wonderful mother is flying me home for five days during my reading break. I go home February 17 and I’m so excited. It can’t get here a moment too soon!

This weekend I am running, doing homework and apartment hunting! I am currently looking for a new apartment in Kamloops that is cheaper, closer to work and smaller. Two-bedroom is just too big for me and Webby and I am way too far away from work right now. So, if there are any Kamloops readers out there that know of a place, please let me know!

I looked at a little duplex yesterday that was the absolutely PERFECT location. But it was very small (about 400 sq feet – my current place is about 950 sq feet) and it was a little overpriced (about $100 more a month then I’m looking to pay). On the bright side, it was about four blocks from work and in the perfect running location so I’m torn. I think that I should keep looking for something better though. 400 sq feet is pretty small and I would have to get rid of a lot of my stuff… Moving is oh so fun. NOT!

What are you guys doing this weekend?

Great pictures! How does one discover a talent for creating a rose out of a tomato? Because that’s kind of bad ass. Tonight I am going to crash. It’s been a long week and I have a decent amount planned for this weekend (yoga, cleaning, hair cut, shopping), so tonight is all about just relaxing.

Great pics - love the shot of you at age 2! Too cute!

The rose out of a tomato thing is amazing. I could never do something like that! Very cool !

I am heading up to my college town of Grand Forks, ND for an annual college get together. We will be going to a hockey game and then checking out all the bars we used to go to when we were in college. Should be a fun weekend! Then on Sunday I am meeting my parents for lunch on my way home.

Have a fantastic weekend. Good luck with the apartment hunting!!!

I love your pictures, so fun! I kind of want it to be Christmas again!

I hate moving so much but I think you are smart to get a new place closer to work. Maybe you wouldn’t mind the small place? But you should probably look a few other places first. Wish I could be more helpful but we all know my knowledge of Canada is pretty limited :)

I love that tomato rose! I want to learn how to do that, it would really make my salads more exciting.

400 square feet!? That’s tiny! Check out a few more places (if you can) and then decide.

How cool is that your aunt’s fiance can carve a rose out of a tomato!? That’s just… awesome.

Ah, the fashion choices we made as children. Priceless :)

Hee hee, your brother looks totally unimpressed.
Your aunt’s fiance is talented! I can barely chop carrots without narrowly escaping lost appendages.

Finding ANY affordable housing in Kamloops is hard, but I’m on Craigslist every freaking day and will let you know if I see something :)

I LOVE board games! Unfortunately for me, no one else in my immediate family likes them :( Moving…ugh. I HATE moving. Good luck finding an apartment!

This weekend: cleaning the house since I’ll be gone the next 2 weekends, running(yay!), relaxing since I did NOT get enough sleep last night!

Good luck with the apartment hunting!

This weekend I am doing nothing. I had a day off today (we all had to work a day between Christmas and New Year so got a day back in lieu) and so far doing nothing has been highly successful, I woke at 1pm and have basically lay around reading or online ever since! And i plan to continue this trend until Sunday night! :) I have a blogger meet up in Manchester next weekend so thought I would make THIS weekend a relaxing one!

I love how many families play board games during the holidays. Our fam has always been into it. I’m looking forward to some relaxation and retail therapy this weekend!

I hope you find a good place to live! Being close to work is nice, but a separation is good too so you don’t always feel like ‘oh, there’s work again.’ :)

OMG I can’t even cut a tomato properly in the normal way, let alone as a rose! Amazing!

a rose out of a tomato!?!? haha, I have never heard or seen such a thing, but it really does look like a rose! so cool! :)

as for the duplex, I’d say keep looking. 400 feet just sounds too tiny! you don’t want to be cramped. hopefully you can find something just as close to work and in a good location that will offer you a bit more room.

good luck!

and happy weekend! (mine has been pretty lazy so far… need to get out of the house!)
