welcome-20101

{Welcoming 2010 with open arms}

Happy New Years Eve everyone! How are you ringing in the New Year?

I can’t believe it’s almost 2010. I can still remember ringing in 2000 with my family, I was 11 years old and was estatic about staying up until midnight. Wow, the last decade has flown by.

I have to admit, even though most people are SO excited for a New Year (clean slate) I’m a little sad 2009 is ending. It was a good year for me and I have so many fond memories of it. Here’s a peek at a few of them:

In 2009 I…

started running and trained for and raced not one, not two but three half-marathons as well as a handful of other races.

…discovered this insanely amazing blogging community that has literally changed my life.

…got my first “grown-up” job and officially started my career.

…wrote my first magazine article.

…spent the summer living away from home for the first time.

…spent the summer with Eric making many great memories like this camping trip in the mountains.

…entered a long-distance relationship and lived alone for the first time.

…had some very fun nights with good friends and lots of wine.

…learned a lot about myself.

**********************************

Yes, 2009 was a good year for me. It had it’s downs, but when I look back on it I have mostly fond memories. I have big plans for 2010 being just as good (or better), though. When I look back on the last few years I consider 2008 the year I lost weight, 2009 the year of running and, so far, in my mind 2010 will be the year of travel. I have two trips in the works already and I’m seriously considering a third.

Here’s a *peek* at what’s going to happen in 2010. A more detailed list coming next week!

In 2010 I will…

…graduate from University.

travel. (Flights to Europe are BOOKED. Details next week!)

…meet some bloggers.

…run a marathon.

…continue to grow and learn in my career.

…continue to grow this blog.

…make new friends and spend more time with old friends.

…do more yoga and learn to meditate.

…enjoy the journey and live in the present more often.

Was 2009 a good or bad year for you? What stands out in your mind about 2009 and what will you do in 2010?

See you all in 2010. Be safe tonight! XO

You have some very good goals, Amber! Hopefully we’ll meet someday too, but it’s doubtful I’ll make it to Vegas this year. It’s really not my scene and Erik and I are hoping to make it to Europe and also our respective parents’ homes (which are quite far these days). It’s been great getting to know you in 2009 and can’t wait for 2010!

Cheers,
Allison

You accomplished so much this year! I wish I could say the same but the year was a lot of BLAH for me. I’m hoping 2010 will begin a brand-new, exciting chapter in my life!

You did accomplish a lot this year!! I remember ringing in 2000 as well, as a little 14 year old girl excited to be going “with the grown ups” and wearing a sparkly silver (horrible) dress, and getting terribly bored spending the evening in the “kids” section :)

I hope 2010 is all sorts of wonderful for you!

2009 for me had the lowest of lows and the highest of highs…. the love of my life, career wise went belly up which so far has been the hardest ordeal of my life. (sounds dramatic, but it’s true) But, then I also met the man I plan to marry and have children with someday and that’s pretty darn huge! So… it’s really hard to say 2009 was that great or that bad either…
I LOVE that picture of you and Eric! What a GREAT picture!!! :)

The memory that stands the most for me in 2009 was definitely graduating from university, and overall, it was a great year.

I really have no idea what 2010 is going to bring, but I definitely think it’s going to be fabulous :)

Seems like 2009 was an amazing year and that 2010 will most likely surpass it!

You deserve all the best and I hope it all comes your way! :)

Two things: I love that picture!! Seriously I think it’s one of my fave pics :)

Also, I want to learn to meditate too… How are you going to be doing that? Are you just going to take a few minutes after yoga?

Happy New Year!!!

Urgh, bring on 2010 I say. I’m a bit scared, because everything in life right now is so uncertain, but 2009 wasn’t the best of years. here’s to bigger and better things!

You ran as many 1/2′s this year than I have ran in my life! :) What a huge year!

I am so glad that I get to be part of 2 of your 2010 goals (meet a blogger, run a marathon).

So happy to have met you through this lovely blogging community – can’t wait to meet IRL!

Happy new year!! 2009 held some challenges for me, but they’re in the past and I’m looking forward to a future so bright that I gotta wear…well you know. How’s that for cheesy? Ah ha ha

I wish I could say 2009 was a good year from me, but it wasn’t. I went through a major breakup and two of my best friends were deployed (one to Afghanistan and one to Kyrgyzstan), among other things. I am definitely looking forward to 2010 being a much better year! :-)
