Away I Go!

Hi guys! By the time most of you are reading this I will probably be at home in Fort St. John. My flight leaves at 7:20 AM this morning. Ugh!

I know I’ve said it before, but I’m SO ready for this vacation. I think I may have bit of a more then I can chew last semester; two jobs, freelancing, full-time course load, training for a half-marathon (for the first half of the semester) and then continuing to go to the gym regularly the second half and balancing blogging and my social life got to be tough after doing it ALL for three months.

But, I know myself, and I have a funny little feeling that my three-week “vacation” will be a fairly busy one; I tend to fill up my schedule without really meaning to!

Here are just a few of the things I’m really looking forward to:

  • Going snowboarding. When I was a kid my Dad used to take me to a ski hill that is an hour away from where I grew up every Sunday. When I got older I started snowboarding and I really love it. Hopefully me and Eric will make it out there at least once or twice.
  • Spending time with family. My Dad is still in the hospital in Edmonton but will hopefully be home next week. I really want to get a lot of quality time with my family this trip!
  • Doing some Christmas baking and decorating! I want to do some more Christmas baking this year. Last year Eric and I spent seven hours doing our Christmas baking! This year I plan on taking it slow and doing a bit of baking each year. I also plan on decorating Eric’s place!
  • Hanging out with the kiddies! I will definitely be getting my little kid/baby fill this month between Eric’s nieces and nephews and my little cousins!
  • The cold and snow! I know, weird right? But I grew up there where there is a TON of snow. We have snow by Halloween every year and Kamloops still has none this year, so I’ve really been missing it; it doesn’t feel like Christmas without it. The cold might not be quite as fun. It’s supposed to get down to -25 C (-13 F) and it’s been known to get to -40 C with the wind chill.
  • Relaxing. Coming home at night and having no homework to do is probably what I’m looking forward to the most. I want to curl up on the couch and watch movies every night and sleep in past 8:00 AM every day!

What are your guy’s plans this holiday season? What things are you looking forward to the most this holiday season?

That sounds like a wonderful trip!! I’m scared to do any outdoor activities since a tobogganning incident a few years ago inadvertently caused major permanent damage :( but it still sounds fun regardless. Take lots of pictures, make lots of cookies, and have a wonderful time!!

I am looking forward to not having to work!!!

You must have just got on your flight! I hope it’s a good one, and turbulence free :-)

truthfully - I just don’t do cold weather. I don’t do winter sports. I don’t see the point of being out in the snow or cold weather and doing some sort of skiing, snowboarding. yeah, it’s NEVER appealed to me. I’d much rather be where it’s HOT!

with that said, my holiday week, I’m off all week between christmas and new year’s. so it’s spent with the kids and we just play games, have some fun. next friday i think, we’re going tree chopping to get my parents a tree! we do this every year. it’ll be fun!

Sounds like such a fun time, have a blast and can’t wait to hear the stories. We’ll have to go for a coffee or glass of wine in the New Year and catch up. Take lots of pictures!

Yay for finally going home! Looks like you’re going to have a really fun time : ) Don’t forget to blog every once in a while for those of us that are still in school/working and need some procrastination haha.
I LOVE snowboarding! I can’t believe it’s already that time of year again, I’m so excited!
Have a blast at home!

I have no plans but to relax when I can this holiday season. Not having that three-week break anymore is a bummer! Definitely one of the things I miss most from being in school.

I’m also looking forward to snow … if it ever gets here!

Those sound like great plans! I LOVE baking (which I don’t do often enough!)

I went to my school’s Christmas play last night and the principal of the school said the kids did SO good that they deserved a day off! I’m so excited because the Wednesday before Christmas Eve was supposed to be a half day and now it’s a day off!

I hope you have a fantastic vacation!

I’m pretty much just working through the holidays, which is ok with me. There will be fondue at my in-laws on the 25th and turkey dinner at my parents’ on the 26th. Other than that I’m just going to visit with as many family and friends as possible!

Oh we are so similar. :) I also end up scheduling my free time and then it ends up being almost as busy - but I am always doing fun stuff so it doesn’t bug me!

That’s a great list of things to look forward to. I hope your dad is home from hospital soon - dang he’s been in there a long time. :(

I am looking forward to being together w/ my parents, all 4 of my siblings, their spouses, and my 4 nephews!!!

I totally end up scheduling my free time too, but at least it’s not at work!

I hope you have an awesome break with your fam and Eric. I definitely hope you are still blogging though since I only have a week off haha

I can’t wait for break :) Relaxing is definitely my top priority. No stress from school and work… oh, I can’t wait! Snow boarding sounds like so much fun! Maybe I’ll try going skiing over break. I’ve never tried snow boarding and my balance isn’t the best, so I don’t know how well that would work out..

Sounds like a nice break, Amber! I’m looking forward to: xmas music, looking at xmas lights in nice neighborhoods around town, festive parties, a twinkle in everyone’s eye, Christmas eve and opening stockings on Christmas morning from “Santa.” ;)

I hope you have a fabulous time at home with family and friends! your break is well deserved so enjoy every second of it! I’ve never been snowboarding, I haven’t been in snow all that much really since I live in California, so I’m a little envious of your snow days! though, I’m not envious of the cold, haha. but build a snowman for me, ok? :)

I’m pretty sure you do a great job of balancing Amber. I wish I had had time in school to do the things you do. Have a wonderful time at home and doing the great things like snowboarding! That sounds so fun. I tried that once and it didn’t workout too well for me. Have a great time with Eric and the fam!
