Refreshed and Rejuvenated

Mandy left a comment on my Home Again post that completely depicted how I felt after my trip.

I am so glad that you were able to go home and enjoy some time. Going home is always refreshing and reinvigorating.

You know, I’d never thought of it that way before. Going home was completely, 100 per cent, exactly what I needed and I returned to Kamloops - sad - but also feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to tackle the last four weeks of this semester head-on. Before I left for my trip home I was feeling beat-down, exhausted, and - to be honest - quite depressed.

It’s amazing what five days at home can do for the soul.

So, what did I do?

  • I caught up with an old friend who has amazing things happening in her life.
  • My hair got a much-needed cut and colour and I took my first successful self-portrait in a bathroom mirror with my Nikon. This is about take 30 of around 100 takes!

  • I made a Vancouver Canucks cake for Eric’s birthday, with the help of my aunt. OK, that’s a lie, I helped make the logo. She baked the cake and made most of the logo. I mostly just looked pretty.

  • Between my baby cousin and Eric’s niece I got my baby fill for the next month.

  • I went running twice, once with my favourite run buddy.

  • I slept in past 9:00 every day (that really is sleeping in for me, I’m usually up at 5:00 am).
  • I ate a lot of really good food (Too much. Oh well).

  • I returned home to a card in the mail from the wonderful Lisa. It totally made the return to my empty apartment less dreary (Webster was really excited to see me, which also made it less dreary!)

It was a fantastic trip and I can’t wait to go back in three weeks and three days. Not that I’m counting down the days or anything…

When’s the last time you went somewhere or did something that left you feeling completely refreshed and rejuvenated?

When I went home for the weekend on October 30th, I felt completely rejuvenated. The weekend seemed so long and relaxing. It was a great break from school and responsibilities.

Great photos! :)

I’m going to Fun-couver this weekend to practice yoga with my fave teacher and hang out by the ocean!

I will return refreshed and rejuvenated! Strange, I’m going back to work this morning after 3 weeks off and I don’t feel that way….=)

Your hair looks fabulous, dahling!

I haven’t done anything that has left me rejuvenated for a long time. I need to! I have booked a trip to the Dominican Republic for after this semester (my last semester) and I am going to totally relax and rejuvinate my mind, body and spirit!

You look beautiful in your self portrait by the way :-)

Your picture is fantastic. Thanks for the link love. You know its funny, I live in home I grew up in but when I need to center myself sometimes I go my grandparents and walk through their fields, my grandpaps garden, or his apple orchard. All the major holidays take place at my grandparents house, they’ve lived on the same land for over 50 years and it will always be home to me as well even though I’ve never lived there. There is just something almost healing about going back to where you came from. I am so glad that you returned back to your current home feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Love the hair + cut. You look gorgeous and so happy which makes me happy.

What a thoughtful cake idea!

Don’t you love getting mail? You’ll see that I wrote & asked for your home address again because I’m a dork and lost it. I guess I should get on the google docs bandwagon.

<3 you!

I loooooooooooove love love your hair. I would switch with you in a heartbeat!! And it’s such a nice color :)

And I have a question about your camera… How much was it? (if you don’t mind me asking…). Mine broke and I’ll be getting a new one but I don’t think my dad wants to spend TOO much, probably in the $200 range…

Glad you had a great time at home!

Your hair is so cute! And I love that you’re counting down to going home too. I may or may not be responding to discussions in the office now with answers ending in “33 days.” I might be just a little excited :)

I’m glad you had such a great time at home! being around friends and family really can do wonders for the soul. and your hair looks great!

it’s hard to think of the last time I felt refreshed and rejuvenated… that’s bad, huh? :) I’d say my trip to Victoria but you know how that went! haha. though I did enjoy getting away and walking around the city, even if I was feeling miserable. but I’m pretty sure another vacation is in order soon! I am feeling pretty exhausted and burnt out from work. I told the boy last night that I feel like I’m drowning. that can’t be a good thing!
