1. Eric got here last night. I. AM. SO. HAPPY.
2. On Sunday, I am running my third half-marathon. Third. If you had told me, at this time last year, that I was going to run three half-marathons in the next year I’d laugh at you and be like, “are you kidding me? Do you know who you’re talking to?”
Last week I read this post on runner’s rambles and it made me start to reminisce about running, too. Before January, I hated running. Hated it. I rarely ran outside, and when I went on the treadmill I would run for five minutes tops before a) getting bored of it and walking or b) getting too tired and walking. I much preferred the elliptical or even the bike to running.
Fast-forward nine months and I honestly can’t imagine my life without running. And nine runs out of ten, I love every minute of it. I can’t wait to train for and run a full-marathon in 2010!
I’m going to leave you with a post that will really show you how far I’ve come:
21 minutes – back in January I struggled to run for 21 minutes. 21 minutes, pffft, that’s my warm-up now.
Here’s a little excerpt from that post:
21 minutes. That’s how long it took me to run two miles today. It was a long 21 minutes.
I was excited about going running today. It had been over a month since I went for my last real run. I did a few run/walk and hill intervals on the treadmill at home but I get too bored on the treadmill to run for an extended period of time. I decided I would only do two miles today, you know, too ease back into it.I walked up the hill to the TRU gym after my last class ended, purchased my month-long gym membership and headed to the indoor track. Two miles on the indoor track is 16 laps, not too bad considering I was doing 24 laps a month ago. It’s only a month right?
This was nothing like I remembered it. This was painful and hard. I was having trouble breathing and my shins hurt. Why did I think I could get into running? How could I possibly think I could run 500 miles this year?
“I’m never running again,” I thought.

Have an awesome weekend everyone and Happy Thanksgiving to fellow Canadians! I will be back with a race report and hopefully, hopefully a new half-marathon PR on Tuesday.
PS: GOOD LUCK to Morgan who is running her first marathon on Sunday in Chicago! I have been following Morgan’s blog since she started training 16 weeks ago and I’m so excited for her!!

That is EXACTLY how I feel right now after my injury. I have moments where my body remembers how good running feels but mostly it hurts. You give me hope that I’ll get it back and maybe by this time next year I’ll be where you’re at. And Happy Thanksgiving!
