One of my most treasured posessions is a gift that my grandma gave me when I graduated from high school in 2006.
It’s a scrapbook called “Grandmother Remembers”. I was flipping through it this weekend and wanted to share some of the pages with you guys.

Below is a picture of my grandma with my mom when she was a baby.

These two pages talk about what my mom when she was a teenager and that’s her on the dirtbike! My grandma wrote that what she remembered most about my mom’s teenage years is “how busy she was, working, going to school, and babysitting so much. She was very ambitious.”

This is my grandma and grandpa on their wedding day. I love this photo!

This is a book that I made when I was about seven and my grandma saved it. I guess it just goes to show that I’ve been thinking about pursuing journalism for a longg time!

The right hand page shows pictures of my great-grandma, my grandma, my mom and then me all when we were around the same age. I think it’s funny how we all look kind of alike. I love this page!

And finally, a picture of me on my 3rd birthday - I was terrified of the sparkler on the cake! And this is what my grandma was talking about on the page above when my grandpa was upset that they lit my cake on fire. Haha.

These are only a few pages from the book, there were many more pages with lots of pictures from my childhood as well as my mom and my grandma’s childhood! You can probably see why I treasure this book so much.
What’s a possession that you especially treasure?

That’s such an amazing book, I want my grandmother to make one!
Here is the thing about the foam roller. I ALSO hate massages, I have never in my life paid to get one and I still won’t. To be honest, I would NEVER have used the foam roller before I was injured, and even after I was injured I wasn’t that awesome about using it. It was only when I was 100 percent sure my injury was related to my lack of flexibility that has me using it 2x per day. So I guess you could say I hear you. But even though I know I would’ve been stubborn and not rolled before I was injured- I hope you will not be like me. You have built up your running endurance SO much, you don’t want to lose that to an injury. And the great thing about the foam roller is- you can always stop if it hurts. With a massage thats a little harder. Get one!
Aw, what a great gift! I still have a book that’s called “All About Me” that my godparents gave me. I remember racing around our house counting all the stairs so I could write it in the book, and standing in the bathroom with my mouth open trying to count my teeth! In fact I think I’m going to look at that book when I get home today - thanks!
That is beautiful!!!!
What a wonderful gift to have from your grandmother. Its so special to have something that was written by her own hand and shares her memories.
One of my favorite possessions is my charm bracelet. My mom bought it for me when I was 12 or13 and I’ve added charms from then on (and had to buy another bracelet). I can take it out and look at all the charms and know where I was or at what point in my life I acquired each and every charm.
My grandma made me a photo album recently, and I love it! It’s so fun looking back.
That’s so very sweet!
I have a few things I cherish:
* My box of letters from my Great Grandmother and my Grandfather, both of whom passed in 1998.
* A “treasure chest,” my granfather made for me in the early 1990s
* My “Hope Chest,” which contains a lot of family heirlooms like tablecloths, silverware, books, keepsakes and etc. The idea is that my mom and I stash things away in it in the “hopes” that when I get married someday I can use what’s in it, and then pass it along it to my daughter if/when I have one. It’s really an awesome idea and that fact that there are three generations of items/styles/heirlooms in it is even cooler if you ask me =)
That’s such an amazing thing to have!! One of my prized posessions is a cocktail ring that was my grandmother’s. I got it right before she passed away, and I’ve worn it ever since. My Dad and I were spooked when I first put it on, because it fits PERFECTLY on my ring finger!!
What a sweet gift!!!
And weren’t you an adorable little child??? I love the rosy cheeks!!! (My cheeks are the EXACT same!)
I don’t have a whole lot of heirlooms or anything…we moved around a LOT when I was younger and a lot of things got lost or broken or just misplaced.
I DO have a gold cross from my grandma though. She wore it when she was younger and one year for Christmas I asked for a gold cross, so she bought a new chain for it and gave it to me.
What an amazing gift!! I would love to have one of those from my grandma. One of my favorite items is a painting of my husband and I. We got it as an engagement gift from my old boss. It’s amazing. We just love it.
I also have a couple scrapbooks that my mom made me for high school graduation. The photos from my childhood are invaluable (since it was before the digital days!)
That’s so sweet! I love family photo albums, especially seeing my parents when they were young.

That is such an amazing keepsake! I’d love to have something like that from my grandmothers.
What a priceless gift! You have an amazing grandma!
My most treasured gift if a journal that my mom kept of my senior year. She wrote in it every day. She recorded what I was doing and told me all the things she wanted to tell me - but couldn’t since I was your typical bitchy teen girl!
that scrapbook is so cute! how special that your grandma made that for you. that truly is priceless.
the first thing that comes to mind as my most valued possession is my stuffed animal, Snuffy. He is a dog, though his fluffy hair is so matted now that many people have asked if he is a kangaroo! haha. I have had him nearly all my life. I stole, yes stole, him from my younger brother when he was just a baby. I was probably 2 or 3. My side of the story is that my brother didn’t play with Snuffy, as I named him, which I took to mean he didn’t like or want Snuffy, so I took him!
Snuffy means a lot to me because I have had him my whole life and he went everywhere with me up until high school. But he also means a lot because for many many years now Snuffy has worn one of my baby shirts. It is a shirt that my older brother “made” for me– one of those that you color, like a coloring book. He wrote my name above the image and it has the date of my first birthday in the corner, with his initials. It is so old and fragile and I love it to pieces. a similar treasure is a picture of me and my two brothers, from when we are young, and a black guitar pick that I found in my brother’s car–the one I now drive– after he passed. Both I keep safe in my jewelry box.
That is a beautiful gift, and such a special book from your Grandma. Cherish it always!
So precious, what a wonderful gift your grandmother gave you. How special that you have those memories saved in her writing!
OMG this is one of the cutest posts I’ve ever seen!!! I love the idea of having a scrapbook like that! Those memories are priceless
(and I love the picture with the sparklers
too funny!!!)
Wow - that book is amazing. I just looked it up on Amazon and saw that they have one from the grandfather’s point of view, too. Needless to say, I know what I’m getting my grandparents for Christmas!
Good luck this weekend on your half and have fun with the boy!
