This weekend my grandma and my great-grandma came to visit me (how cool is that I have a GREAT-grandma?). They were on their way back from Penticton and spent Friday night, all day Saturday and Saturday night with me. We had a great visit! My Grandma took me grocery shopping, stocked me up with a bunch of FRESH Okanagan fruit that she had collected during her time in Penticton- including filling the entire bottom of my fridge with fresh apples - and helped me make apple crisp for the first time!
Umm, delicious? It’s a good thing I don’t bake on a regular basis or I’d weigh 500 pounds, I’ve already ate wayyy too much apple crisp for my own good!
I got two delicious home cooked meals out of the deal, too. Since Eric has been gone I have practically been living off of fried-egg sandwichs, lean cuisines and salads. With my Grandma here I got barbequed chicken burgers, corn on the cob, fish and homemade chips, caesar salad and of course some crumbly apple crips that I helpe make. Yum! I had a great visit with both Grandma’s, who I sadly don’t get to see often.
But, you want to know something I did - or rather didn’t do - that really pissed me off? I forgot to take ANY pictures while they were here!! I was so mad when I sat down to blog about it yesterday that I had NO pictures to go with the post! What the heck did I spend almost $1,000 on a beautiful, new cameraa for? Not to sit on my desk and collect dust, that’s for sure. The sad thing is, I always forget to bring my camera places. That was the nice thing about having Eric around, he’s a quiet guy and actually enjoys being behind the lens, so while I’m bustling around at family events, he quietly snaps pictures and captures some great candid moments.
So, yesterday I came up with a brand new goal for myself, and it’s really quite simple: take more pictures, of everything. If I’m going to hang out with friends, why not bring my camera? If I’m going for a walk, grab the camera. And definitely if I have family visiting I will grab my camera and start snapping pictures! Simple enough, right?
You guy’s have to hold me to it. If the pictures start becoming few and far between I expect you to hit me up with an email, comment or tweet asking me where the heck all the pictures are, ok? OK!
Do you guys take lots of pictures or do you wish you took more?

I don’t take enough pictures. I wish I did take more pictures, but I always feel weird bringing my camera and making people pose!
definitely wish i took a lot more pictures. I did take lots of video yesterday on my parents’ camera of my niece. she was HILARIOUS!
we do take a lot, but not always the shots we want. after you have kids it’s tons and tons of pictures. and they never pose the way you want them too.
I stopped taking pictures when I got fat. It’s that simple lol! So now I really AM trying to rework snapping pictures into my routine
I miss having tons of random shots!
Since we moved 6 months ago we hardly take pics…first because the stuff was packed away somewhere and second because of computer issues to download anything was a pain…..but that’s fixed and we’re taking tons again. I don’t like to have my picture taken though lol I actually want to make a dark room and get an old cam, that would be AWESOME!!
Awe that’s so cool your g’mas came and spoiled you!! I totally missed out on g’rents growing up and even now. My mom’s parents passed away long before i came around and my dads parents were never there. It sucks because i wish for grandparents so sad. Oh well my parents will be the best g’rents EVAR
I’m one of those people that always forgets so as of the new year I started packing my camera around in my purse (heavy as it may be) or carrying pack and I can’t say how many times it’s come in handy on the fly. Good luck with it, can’t wait to see the pics!
I probably take too many pictures. Honestly, I’m the only one who ever has a camera out (now that Jen’s gone!). Put it in your bag and take it everywhere! I hate when I forget mine….I have been known to make D take me home so I can go get it! haha
I still think you are the luckiest girl to have a Gramma & a Granny! Glad to hear your visit went great!
xoxo
I specifically bought my last purse on the basis of whether or not I could fit my DSLR in it (okay, obviously that was not the ONLY factor … ), because I hated lugging the camera bag along with a purse and none of my other bags could pull double-duty. I’ve been a lot better about taking pictures since then, but I still feel self-conscious because it’s SUCH a noticeable monster of a camera. That’ll lessen the more I use it though, I’m sure.
I went to Chicago this weekend and didn’t take a SINGLE picture. How pathetic is that? I had my camera with me, I just didn’t use it. I am going to try to be better about taking pictures as well.
Sounds like a lovely weekend though =)
I enjoy that the cartoon at the top of the screen is a valid representation of you, but also of Webster.
That’s funny that your Eric is good about taking pictures. My Eric stinks at it. Occasionally I will FORCE him too because otherwise we have a million pictures of him doing stuff and none of me!
I always keep my camera in my purse, just in case!
First of all - I want to comment on visits with Grandma…I don’t visit either of my grandma’s (and one lives in the same town as me). I always feel so guilty afterwards because they are so caring and they dote on me…and I am pretty certain I can’t do anything wrong in their eyes!!! I think I need to make that a goal for myself!!!
As for pictures, I usually don’t take NEARLY enough…I used to take TONS, but my husband wouldn’t take over the camera very often…so he either looked like he was on vacation by himself or I would just get fed up….it’s not fun experiencing a vacation through a camera lens.
But yes, I wish I took more to document things that are dear to me!
Two of my great-grandmothers were alive when I was born, but they died when I was pretty little. I do have a few memories of them which I am glad about.
I think I am pretty good about taking pictures. Although, when I’m with a big group of people I tend not to take very much. Especially sohen I don’t know a lot of the people.
I don’t bake either. One I’m not good at it, and two I’ll eat it all.
I carry my camera with me and still forget to take pictures.
Photography used to be a huge passion of mine. I only have a film camera, though, and while I prefer film over digital, film is expensive! I’m hoping to get a Nikon D5000 after Christmas, though!
This is why cell phone cameras are so wonderful. I don’t own a camera at the moment but when I did, I always forgot to take it places. Or I would choose not to take it because I didn’t want it to get lost/stolen/broken. With a cell phone camera, I always have a way to take pictures since I’m rarely without my cell phone.
Looking forward to more pictures Amber-maybe you’ll inspire me to buy a real camera and take some myself

I take quite a few. I am kind of the ‘picture taker’ of the family. My siblings all joke that they have me to thank because if not for me, they wouldn’t have nearly as many pics of their kiddos! I just hope if I ever have kids, they’ll return the favor!
Sadly, I don’t have alot of pics w/ my grandma, though. She really hates pictures. But I made her take one with me when I went home for my Grandpa’s auction sale earlier this month!
I love, love, love to take pictures and always take a lot. I almost always carry my camera with me because I never know when I might find something I can snap a shot of . I love going back through my pictures and looking at the fun memories.
I love to bake as well, the trick is to give it away. Many of my friends are always more than willing to take baked goods off of my h ands. I have a great grandma too, unfortunately I dont feel the same way about mine as you do yours. Haha. She’s something else.
You’re lucky, I only have the one grandparent left! We don’t even speak the same language. And both my grandads died before I was born.
Oh, and I’m the same as you - always forget to take my camera anywhere! So very frustrating. I’m thinking i need to get a new phone with a decent camera on it.
