Picking up my socks

by MissAmber on July 2, 2009 · 18 comments

in blogging,summer

June was a whirlwind for me. Home, starting my new “job”, training for my second half, meeting new people, visiting friends. Busy.

It was a blast, and I can’t believe it’s over, but I’m also kind of glad it’s over. I’m hoping July will be a little more relaxed. Actually, scratch that, July IS going to be more relaxed! This weekend will be the first one in two weeks where I am home, with no plans to go ANYWHERE. I plan on using it to get my life in order. Bills are piling up waiting to be payed, my apartment is an unorganized frenzy, I have freelance assignments that I need to start working on, and I have about ten books sitting on my desk shouting “read me” everytime I walk by!

Plus, I’ve been falling by the wayside with my healthy habits. I’ve been eating take-out and skipping workouts. Now that I’m done training for halfs for awhile, I’m hoping to get back into a regular routine at the gym. Obviously I want to keep running, but I want to do other stuff too. I did 50 situps and 10 pushups this morning and OH. MY. GOD. I am WEAK! It has been about a month since I last did Jillian’s 30-day shred, and I can tell! I also need to get my eating on track, which is why I signed up for Amy’s 15-week challenge. Even if I don’t lose a single pound, I need to start eating healthy every day and getting into some sort of routine. If you know me, you know that routine is my friend, and lately we have been fighting!

Picking up my socks and getting my life back in order also means getting back to regular scheduled blogging. No more of this random blogs in the middle of the day and no blogs on other days. As a writer, I believe that I’ve made a committment with this blog to WRITE, and when I don’t write I’m just being lazy (that’s just me and how I view my own personal blogging. I certainly don’t think EVERYONE’S blogs should be that way!) So, as of Monday we will be back to regular blogging, at least four days a week.

There’s only two months of summer left, I cannot believe it! Here’s to making the most of it!

Oh, also I’m doing research for a blogpost/article about online dating. SO, if you have ANYTHING to share about your experiences with eharmony, match, or anything of the like, please leave a comment OR email me! amber (at) girlwiththeredhair (d0t) com.

Go have a fabulous weekend everyone, see you Monday! XO

Hi
I love reading your blog, and your research on online dating peeked my interest. I met my current BF online, adn we have been together a year. Granted we ahd met in person once before the online “hook-up”, but that’s how our relationship took off.

Email me, if yuo ahve any questions.

prior to this boyfriend, i did match online dating. it wasn’t soooo bad. i did meet a couple guys online, but once i started to get to know them, it was hard cuz they were different online than in person. and the distance thing was a hassle. one guy lied to me — he was supposed to be my date for my sister’s wedding. we had dated a month, then he lied to me and said he got called away to help out during the katrina disaster. Later i found out he was dating 2 girls at the same time. I was pissed, blocked him every way i could. made it difficult for me to trust guys after that.

i could do a whole email. so if you want to know more.. definitely email me!

Sadly I have no experience w/ online dating…well, maybe that’s for the best? I dunno….
I hate hearing it from other people, but just remember it’s never to late to get back into the game! (as far as working out/healthy habits). Just get up tomorrow & write down what you want to get from your workout/diet! I’m so glad you get a break w/ July-I feel the same way. I’m a personal assis. to a family & they’re out of town for a week! WA HOO.

I agree, summer is FLYING by. And I like the month recap and a look forward. Always good to stop and evaluate once in a while…something I rarely allow myself time for. Time to just breathe this weekend (and get healthy!) :) Have a good one!

I know lots of people who have done the online dating thing! My cousin met a guy online and they just got married at the end of May. I think it’s a great way to get out there a little more and meet your soul mate, friends or some new people to avoid… :) Can’t wait to see you in a couple weeks!

I blog in much the same way. I know other people get stressed out by the obligation of it, but if I hold myself accountable, then I get a lot more writing done and, after all, I like to write!

I’ve never really tried on-line dating, but if anything crazy were to happen and I had to I would go with J-date. Its an online dating services for jews. Pretty clever I think

I also need to “pick up my socks” so to speak, in many areas of my life, one actually being laundry! I have a pile of clean clothes on the bed that have been waiting forever (I won’t tell you how long, it’s too bad!) to be folded and hung. ugh. I also have to get organized work-wise, blog-wise and health-wise. I have been totally slacking in all those areas, to varying degrees, because I have been totally stressed. maybe this holiday weekend will help me get in order? haha, I hope.

I’ve never done any online dating, so can’t help you there. But it will be interesting to hear other people’s tales! till then, have a great weekend!

Seriously, WHERE DID JUNE GO?! Ugh. I wish I could say July is going to be relaxed for me too, but instead I’ll be moving and interviewing.

I’m feel ya on the scheduled blogging – if I start to wander from my “normal” writing times, it just doesn’t get done! But, we’ll be here reading either way :)

I’ve never done any online dating, so I’m sorry I can’t contribute. :s
Yeah, June was pretty quick and I’ll also try to have a relaxed July (the Type A person that I am, it will be a challenge :P ).
Good luck on getting back to your routine this month and ditto on making the most of the summer!

I’ve also been slacking off these past few weeks :( But today I kicked my butt back into gear!! I’ve got 6 lbs to lose by the beginning of August, and I think I can get pretty darn close to that if I start trying! I hadn’t been writing my food down but I’m doing that again, and I have to start working out 5-6 times a week like I used to…I have a lot on my mind (my sister is in the hospital for pneumonia) so I think that’s why my workouts have been crappy…and I feel like I don’t have much time to do it, but I just have to squeeze it in, it’s important!

I met my husband on e-harmony…we’ve been married for nearly 3 years and we’re a great match (in my humble opinion). I’m from Calgary and you can feel free to contact me if you want deets!
