Harry Potter, Twilight and HEAT

in books, summer

It’s been awhile since I did a bullet post and my brain was full of mumble-jumble last night so here we go.

- I’m still going strong on recording everything I eat. Working out has fallen by the wayside this week, though. It’s SO hot here that I only want to work out (run) in the mornings because it stays hot right until 11 pm. So, even though I have gotten two solid 45-minute runs in the last two days, I would like to be hitting the gym more and lifting weights! On the bright side, I’ve lost four pounds since I first buckled back down three weeks ago. Now, I just need to keep it up!

- I’m re-reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, after seeing the movie last week (which was freaking awesome by the way) I decided to re-read the last book. I forgot how addicting these books are. It’s been hard to put it down - even to write this blogpost!

- On that note, remember how I went on that huge rampage about Twilight back on my old blog? Which, by the way, was the first post I ever got over 25 comments on - you people are passionate about that book! Anyways, I saw the preview for New Moon and dare I say…it looks GOOD. I may just skip Twilight and try reading New Moon. I don’t think I should follow Harry Potter 7 with it though or I might end up disappointed again. What’s a crappy book I should read in between the two?

- Remember when I said it’s HOT. It’s really hot. It was 38 C yesterday (100 F), which is TOO hot for me. I was saying to Eric that I’d really like to live somewhere that stays between 15 - 25 C (60-75 F) ALL the time. Year round. If anyone knows of such a place, please let me know. No rain, just sun. Preferably in Canada. Thanks.

- We’re heading off camping again soon, I feel like my life is kind of jumbled right now. I have SO many projects on the go. Blog posts half-drafted, freelance pitches half-written, several work projects on-the-go I just want to have EVERYTHING on my to-do list done for a few days so I can breathe. But, that will not be happening anytime soon; hence, operation-turn-off-blackberry. That’s right, folks. The blackberry will be turned off for three. whole. days. Eeep. Anybody care to take the plunge and join me?

- OK, I think that is all for today. If I don’t post again for several days I probably melted.

XO

hahah i’m still not liking our summer weather and i live in MD!? it’s only been in the 80’s and not humid enough for me…. it’s usually like 90’s with intense humidity. and I live for that weather! =)

i’ll be taking the plunge in a couple weeks with no phone for 6 - 7 days. and i look forward to every second of it!

WOO! Congrats on your loss girl!! That is fantastic!!

I JUST finished Harry Potter last night…there were so many parts to that book that I had forgotten about (I only read it once before, which is very unusual for me!)

that is BRUTALLY hot!!! We haven’t had ANY temperatures like that this year (we usually do, but nothing yet!!) and we are heading to BC at the end of next week…we don’t even get to ease into the heat!!!

New Moon was my least favorite book. In order of favorites it would be Exlipse, Breaking Dawn, Twilight, and then New Moon. I am not interested in the movies at all. I don’t like the casting they did.

I eventually want to re-read all of the HP books. They are SO good! I actually haven’t seen any of the movies though! (gasp!) I’ll get around to that someday!!

It has not been hot here at all, and I really wish it was. So I will willingly trade weather with you! ;) Ok, I would probably get sick of the 90s since it makes running a biach, but we need some hot, sunny weather!

Enjoy your break from technology! :)

I really want to reread all of the harry potter books :) And you know, you’re right! New Moon DOES look like a good movie :P (actually, bookwise, I thought it was pretty boring. The last book is the best because it’s SO crazy).

I hope the heat goes down a little! And that you have fun this week-end :)

I think that while I’ll be in Tuscany, there will be no internet…for two whole weeks :| We’ll see how I fare :P

First off, HP 7 is such an AWESOME book. It was my favorite of the series. Second, when it comes to Twilight and New Moon, I honestly like the first book better (they’re all pretty good actually) than New Moon, mainly because I’m an Edward fan, but still. I think, atleast, eventually you should read the first one because that’s the one that got me hooked (by the way the book is waaay better than the movie) :)

Ahh, I’m going to start re-reading HP this summer! Love it so much.

Def. don’t skip Twilight…New Moon sucks so much more!

I’m with you! I’m going to the lake for the next four days. Maybe I will shut the crackberry off :)

It was 111 in Fresno, Ca last Sunday. OMG, I thought I was going to die. It was SO not a good plan to run errands that day! I’ve been trying to have a good attitude about summer and not let the heat get to met but that day melted my positive tude. Oh man, it’s sad when 100 degrees feels cooler! Yeah, 60 to 75 degrees (and no rain) sounds perfect. Hmm. Sounds like I need to move to the beach! Now if only I could find a job over there! Fairy godmother, where are you? Congrats on losing 4 lbs! That’s great!! Even though I thought you looked just great before! :) p.s. And yes, Twilight is horrible. I read the first book just to see if there were juicy parts but blah blah blah! LAME!

*not let the heat get to ME (not met).

oops, I can’t type.

p.s.
Good luck surviving the heat up in Canada!

bah yes I’ve been re-reading the HP books since seeing the movie on Monday, so good I forgot how much I loved them!
ps twighlight is good, but its a fun read that you can’t take seriously but if you think of it like that its fun to read

way to go on the weight loss! that’s awesome. i need to get back into it. Still haven’t done it =(

As for the Harry Potter v Twilight: don’t read Twlight after Harry Potter. And New Moon is my LEAST favorite book of the series, just a warning =) I can’t think of a crappy book to read but Jennifer Weiner just came out with a new book so that’s something you could get and read?

New Moon is usually the one people like the least, but if you didn’t like Twilight, then it might just be the one you like the most!

14 shoshanah July 23, 2009 at 7:53 PM

Hope you have a great time camping! And I’m sure you’ve probably heard this over and over, but (at least I think) the Twilight books do get better with each book

Congrats on the loss! That is great; keep it up. :D
Enjoy your time camping and relaxing.

They say the Seychelles Islands off the east coast of Africa have beautiful climate. Never gets colder than 70F and never hotter than 90F. I’ve also heard that if there ever was a garden of eden that is where it was located. They suffer no natural occuring disasters, ie: earthquakes, tornados etc… however, they do occassionally suffer from a shortage off fresh water.
