Burnt out

Taking a break from the scheduled Q & A to use my blog for some good, old-fashioned bitching.

I’m burnt out. Big time.

It has been so, so, so hot here. Yesterday it was 41 C (106 F). I’m sorry, but that is TOO hot. I know that some of you live in much hotter climates than that and I have to say that I feel for you, I really do. I’m a northern girl who is used to summers that hit the 30′s (80′s) at the hottest. I do not enjoy this incredibly hot weather. I think part of the reason I’m so grumpy and blah is because I’ve been sleeping like crap due to this extreme heat. The other night I HAD to go sleep on the couch under our air conditioner because I could not sleep in the bedroom, I woke up dripping sweat. Sick, right?

July has been a whirlwind of activity for me – especially the last two weeks. We’ve gone camping the past two weekends in a row and then my family was visiting the first part of this week. Which, don’t get me wrong, was awesome. I love having them here and really wish they could stay longer, it just makes for a lot of go-go-go! It’s hard to spend your whole weekend sleeping on the ground and then head for work the following week, especially in the hot weather. It’s even worse when you aren’t getting any sleep because it’s so hot and you are getting up at 5:30 just to fit a workout in!

All I have to say is that the August long weekend could not come a minute sooner. I have a long run (10 miles with the group) scheduled for early Saturday morning, but then I plan on lying around – napping, perhaps – all day Saturday and I will most definitely be sleeping in on both Sunday AND Monday. It’s a much needed break that I’m really, really, really, really looking forward to. Ugh, is it really only Wednesday!?

Can you guys believe it’s almost August? Hola, where has the summer gone!

OK, sorry to be a debbie downer today. Back to answering questions tomorrow! LOVED them all, btw!

PS: Whew, it sure did feel good to write all that down and just take a breather!!

106 F?!!! My gawd, that is ridiculously hot. I would say you have every right to feel “burnt out”.

wow 106. i’m kinda jealous. but it’s been nice and hot and humid. whee! it started late here. then i’d spend all my time in the pool lounging on my noodle. haha!

don’t forget to take care of yourself, or you’ll end up sick, and then it’ll e even harder to get back in the game!

  6. ya gotta go where the climate suits your clothes. that’s why we aren’t beach people. i hate anything over the low 80′s – it makes me crawl into my cave and suck my thumb until fall. it’s been hotter than 40 hells here too, with no end in sight.

  7. We haven’t really had any hot weather! Perhaps we can meet in the middle & exchange weather patterns? Ok, I wouldn’t want 106, though!!! Ha!

There is nothing worse than not being able to sleep at night due to the heat! I went through a summer of that – I basically slept on an air mattress in my living room for an entire summer.

Hope you enjoy your long weekend!!

I feel your pain sista! Thankfully once you live in Florida awhile your blood thins out and it becomes a bit more bearable… but when I first moved here from Michigan I was a cooked goose! ugh!

Hopefully you don’t see an indian summer and get some cool weather soon!!!

I’m so excited to hear about your 10 miler with the group! YAY!

  9. SarahBeth says:

  10. Nora says:

We went through Kamloops on Saturday and it was SO HOT!!! I couldn’t believe how sapping that heat was, and we only went from the car to Wendy’s! It was crazy! Sorry you’ve had to endure that for such a long time. Sleep is sooo hard to come by at that temp.

  14. Jen says:

    OHMIGOODNESS!!!!

I COULD NOT live in those temperatures!!! Being a Northern Girl as well, I prefer “cooler” summer temps (in the 20′s).

Good for you for getting it out of your system!!! That’s what your blog is for!!

The only good thing about living in the crazy heat in Louisiana (aka when its in the 90s its a pretty cool day) is that everything has central air conditioning. And since I’m inside most of the time it isn’t so bad. I’m sure without the air conditioning I would die though

  16. Amanda says:

Oh hon when it reaches over 90 F you’re allowed to bitch all you want. I’d be a-bitchin, fortunately it’s fairly temperate in Ohio. Actually, I’ve had to wear sweaters a few times to go outside which is really weird for July. I hope it gets cooler soon though, and you start feeling better.

What the heck…over 100? Is everyone else BUT Ohio experiencing a heat wave? All we get is RAIN, RAIN, RAIN!!

  18. 106 is ridonkulous – no matter where you are from. (trust me, I live in Texas) Stay hydrated and stay outta that heat as much as you can!
