Computer in the shop = bullets

in books, home

- I had to take my laptop into Computer World yesterday. All of a sudden it’s gotten REALLY slow and it won’t detect some USB devices like when I plug my iPod in. My post about my internship was saved on it and I got home too late last night to rewrite it. Hopefully I’ll have it back today, if not I’ll rewrite the internship post. I have a love/hate relationship with technology these days.

- Thank you guy’s SO much for all your wonderful comments on yesterday’s post. A few of you made the very valid point that although the dress is adorable (and comfy) it might not be the best outfit choice to set the tone on my first day. Also, I forgot to mention that my internship happens to start the day after my half-marathon so I’ll definitely want to wear flats. The dress just doesn’t look as nice with flats as it does with heels, so I’ll probably go with pants and a blazer on my first day and then wear the dress near the end of the week. What do you think?

- Hello to all my new readers!! Thank you so much for reading the blog and taking the time to comment, if I haven’t already I will be sure to check out your blog soon!

- Saturday I did level 3 of the 30-day shred and then shopped all day, shopping is a workout when you do it the way I do. Then Sunday I went for an 8-mile run and did an hour long yoga class at the gym. Yesterday I was so sore it hurt to sit down on the toilet. I literally had to ease myself down onto the toilet using the handicap bar. I’m still sore today. I hope it wears off by the half-marathon.

- On our 3-mile run this morning, Murphy (my mom’s 100-pound golden lab) and me got chased by a fox! It was in the ditch and started running on the trail behind us after we passed it. Then some vehicles drove by and scared it away. I was a little freaked out it was going to attack Murphy, he didn’t seem to notice it.

- I only have two more sleeps in FSJ and while I’m excited to see Eric and Webster as I miss them both terribly, I’m not completely ready to go back to Kamloops. I’m having a relaxing time here, I’m visiting with old friends and me and my mom are getting along really well. It’s went by super fast and I’m kind of not ready to leave.

- I’m reading ‘Good in Bed’ by Jennifer Weiner right now and it’s really good. I have a pile of about 15 books that I want to read over the next few months.

- I’ve been lining up a few freelance writing jobs that I’m really excited about! I’ll hopefully post more about that next week.

- If you don’t already, be my friend on Facebook and follow me on Twitter!

- I will be back with another “your thoughts” post on my internship tomorrow, promise.

That is all for today. Thank you again for your advice on my outfits yesterday, if you haven’t already, weigh-in here! XO

After reading your reasons for not picking the dress, I can see your reasoning. But definitely wear it within the first week, ok? :) Just do it.

My computer has been acting up well, so I feel your pain. I think its almost time for me to up and buy a new one. More money I don’t want to spend.

I’m in awe of your exercise regimen. I’ve just started running and it kicks my ass, literally. I did my first 4 mile run this weekend and it took an hour, which isn’t horrible, but not as well as I wanted to do. Since then I’ve been too sore to do anything more.

Good luck with the freelance jobs!

I’d like to read that book.

Sounds like a good clothing plan!

I still haven’t started my “30 Days of Shred”. Between basically losing my job and writing exams I’ve had the headache to end all headaches this week. Can’t wait to get going on it and see what happens when I do it from start to finish!

Jennifer Weiner is a great author. and if you haven’t already — try Jemina J by Jane Green. i swear every woman who reads that book — absolutely loves it!

i cannot wait to hear all about your half marathon. I just posted about mine! knowing you’re gonna go through with it. so awe inspiring to keep me running the entire race.

I agree, DEFINITELY wear the dress within the first week though!!!

A jacket and pants sounds PERFECT for the first day - and then you can wear a bright shirt for a pop of color!!!

I have WAY too many books to read as well!! And for some reason I just keep re-reading old ones!

I love Jennifer Weiner also! I just started Jemima J, it’s definitely a guilty pleasure. You should also look into Jen Lancaster if you haven’t already, she’s hilarious!

I have read all of Jennifer Weiner’s books. They are all amazing. She’s one of my favorites.

The pants/blazer combo with flats would be a perfect first day look. Not knowing the tone of the office that you are going to I’d say to go with your gut instinct. You looked great in all of the outfits and I’m sure they will all get worn at the appropriate time =)

Enjoy your last few days in FSJ!

“Good in Bed” is a good book! I read it last year and it was a good read. Hope you enjoy it!

all your outfits were great and a pants/blazer combo will work perfectly for your first day! the dress may be a bit much I guess, I just loved it on you! :)

I have “Good in Bed” but I haven’t read it yet (haha, no surprise there!) but glad to hear good things from you and the other commenters. maybe that should be next on my list…

and I’m interested to hear about your freelance gigs and more on the internship! sounds like things are finally working out in that department.

Haha…I’m reading Good in Bed right now too! About 2/3 of the way through. Love it. Jennifer Weiner is pretty entertaining.

I can’t believe you were chased by a fox. But, one time I did run along side a bunny. I was running and I looked over and he was running next to me. It was adorable, though it was scared off very quickly.

I definitely see why you wouldn’t pick that outfit… makes sense! It’s gorgeous though and I’m so jealous of your figure! :) Pants and a blazer should be a perfect first impression outfit, so I think you’ve got the right idea.
Good in Bed is one of my favorites! Have you read any other Jennifer Weiner novels?
That stinks about your computer, I know how it feels to be internet/computer less, it’s like missing your right arm! Ha! At least you have your blackberry! :)

I just found your blog yesterday and read all of your posts consecutively. You’ve inspired me to register for BBG today. I hope I can keep it up. I’ve been feeling really unmotivated lately though and I’m starting off the program not too well. (By the way, I was shocked to read that BP’s chocolate explosion has 870 calories! It makes me sad. It’s possibly the best dessert I’ve ever had.)

Oh no sorry to hear about your computer! But it sounds like things are going okay now.

Pants and a blazer sounds like a good, safe first-day outfit. And the dress will be perfect later in the week, definitely.

Keep up with the workouts! You’re going to do such a great job on the half-marathon!

Good idea to go with pants for your first day outfit. I really like all of the pieces you bought, you do look fabulous in all of them! I think you should name your car Ramona. I’m not sure if you decided whether the car was male or female, but Ramona sounds like a car name to me. Good luck on your half-marathon. We’ll be thinking about you.

This may sound stupid but are you plugging your ipod into the plugs in the back of your computer. I have side plugs (as well as back) and turns out your ipod won’t connect when you use the side USB plugs.

I read Good in Bed and really liked it. She has a sequel for it too! (Which I think just came out in paperback.)

When’s your half-marathon? That’s really great. I want to be able to run a marathon one day, but one race at a time!

Hope your computer is ok!! I can’t believe you got chased by a fox!!! That would have made me SPRING like you have no idea lol! (hey…maybe I should invest in a fox then!)

I almost got talked into a half-marathon this week. I was like “If Amber can do it, I can do it!”. But then I realized the marathon is ON my birthday. And while yes, I’m a grown up, I’m only going to be 24 not 42, and I definitely still plan on getting drunk and maybe hungover. Not in any shape to run a half-marathon.

Maybe I’ll try to drink 23 beers instead of run 23km? haha ok I won’t do that either.
