April Fool’s Day
Happy April Fool’s day. I’ve never been a HUGE fan of this “holiday” because I’m not much of a trickster.
I was going to type up this long post about some crazy, ridiculous thing that happened to me and at the end go, “oh, btw, April Fool’s”, in small print. But I couldn’t think of anything clever.
Instead, I’m going to tell you guy’s a bit about the history of April Fool’s Day, give you some interesting April Fool’s links and tell you about the funniest prank I’ve ever pulled.
The origins of the day are a little uncertain still. But, apparently, back in the 1500′s the New Year used to be celebrated on April 1. Well back in 1582 (or thereabouts) the Pope decided to change New Year’s day to January 1. Lot’s of people either refused to accept this change or didn’t know about it and continued celebrating New Year’s on April 1. People who still celebrated on April 1 were called fools. This practice eventually spread across Europe. (This information was compiled from several websites).

Also, our student paper is published every Wednesday and in honour of April Fool’s we did a “spoof issue” this week. I wrote about a new homemaking degree that is coming to TRU. It’s not up online yet, but as soon as it is I’ll post the link.
I’ll end this post by telling you about the best April Fool’s prank I ever pulled. In grade 10, I went to a very small school and nobody bothered to lock their lockers. On April Fool’s 2004, my friends and I got a maxi pad and rubbed ketchup on it. We then stuck it up in my cousin, Brad’s, locker.
He FLIPPED when he opened his locker. It was SO funny. I remember laughing until I almost peed my pants.
What’s the best April Fool’s prank YOU’VE ever pulled (or has been pulled on you)? Are you fooling anyone today, if so, who and what are you doing?
Oh, I found this cartoon quite amusing:

Cartoon found here.

Ha, that’s a good prank.
I can’t say that I have ever done anything April Fools-like. I think one year I told people I was moving or something, but I have no idea why I decided to do that.
I generally don’t do anything today as I’m not much of a trickster either!
I had no idea that was the origin of April Fool’s Day! Thanks for sharing =)
I am NOT a trickster either, so do not like this day. I can't remember any really good pranks… I know I have probably done some, but it was probably when I was in grade school!
I love the spoof editions of college newspapers. We had one in the spring & one in the fall at the University I went to. I worked in our ad dept & had such a good idea for a spoof article – it was the week when we were electing student body presidents, and I wanted to take pictures of the guy who won, voting at every poll on campus. But no one else thought it was funny, so they didn't run with it – I was so disappointed! esp since I was NEVER the girl to come up w/ an idea for an article!
That April Fool’s prank is QUITE funny!! lol!!! also check this out: lululemon.ca/shop
They definitely got me…lol
Nice prank! My friend was born today and he’s the biggest prankster. I’m actually happy I don’t sit near him at work anymore. i was always scared of what he’d do on April 1st!
Thanks for your comment
And about the food, well I’m actually hoping to have another “blind” date and this time I’ll take pictures and put it on the blog
Also, about the announcement, I hope I’m not going to disappoint anyone…It’s mostly good for me lol
HAHAHA poor Brad! remember the spiders in the ziploc container we put in there the one day too? SO funny!
it took me about 5 long minutes to understand that cartoon. once i did, i burst out laughing, that is clever!!
thank god no one did anything mean to me today, but my boss did yell at me when i got to work and tried to convince me that i was supposed to have been at work at 7, not 3. i kindly reminded him that april fools day is supposed to end at 12.
Amber… this has always been a great day in my life. My B-day
The worst trick I had played on my is, I think I was 8 and i had all of my friends over for a sleep over and my dad came in that morning with a grim look on his face, “Tam, I am really sorry, but turbo (the family cat) didn’t make it past the car in the driveway” So naturally I burst into tears and he yelled “HAHA April fools!!” I know, cruel at the time, but I laugh about it lots, especially 20 years later!!
xox Tam.
