I was inspired by Raspberry Runner’s post yesterday about breakfast.
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. I love, love, love it.
My go-to breakfast is ½ a cup of oatmeal cooked in water, 1 tsp peanut butter and 1 tsp honey, a splash of 1% milk and ½ a banana sprinkled with cinnamon. I have this breakfast at least four or five mornings a week.
A few of my other favourite healthy breakfasts are:
- Poached eggs on toast with fruit
- Special K cereal with 1% milk
- Whole-wheat toast with peanut butter, banana and a glass of milk
- Fibre plus eggo’s with light syrup, berries and coolwhip
- Egg-white omelettes with spinach, mushrooms and peppers and a slice of toast with jam
Not only do I like healthy breakfasts, I also LOVE fattening breakfasts. Pancakes, French toast, waffles, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns. Love it all.
In fact, the other night I made Eric and I banana pancakes, bacon, sausage, and scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese for dinner. So not healthy, but oh so good! We make breakfast for dinner a lot!
It’s a good thing that I enjoy breakfast so much because it really is the most important meal of the day. It jumpstarts your metabolism and people who eat breakfast are more likely to be successful when trying to lose weight. I’ve never not eaten breakfast, for as long as I can remember if I didn’t eat within the first hour of waking up I’d feel nauseous.
Eric is not so good with eating breakfast, mostly because he doesn’t roll out of bed until 10 minutes before we have to catch the bus. Some mornings I coax him out of bed with breakfast, but he doesn’t like oatmeal and since that’s what I make for myself every morning it rarely works to get him out of bed!
Do you eat breakfast? If so, have you always eaten it or is it a recent habit you picked up? What’s your favourite breakfast?

I Do not eat breakfast, I should because by the time 10:00 comes around im dying of hunger. But then if I do happen to have somthing in the moring, I sware either way im starving by 10.. so I dont really know what to do..!! My Favorite breaky is home made smoothies, or anything my mom makes!!
oh man breakfast is so important to me. i always eat it. if i dont my body will freak outtt! but my fav breakfast ever is french toast or pancakes! especially from dinerss
so bad but oh so gooood!
i love me some breakfast. i can eat “breakfast” items any time of day. I normally eat 7 or 8 meals a day to fuel up my excercise, at least 2 of them are usually breakfast things.
daily, my breakfast is a half cup of oatmeal cooked with 1/2 c water and 1/2 c skim milk. then topped with some raisins and a banana. that diet breakfast took 5 lbs off of me the first 2 weeks, and i’ve stuck with it ever since. love it!
I never was a breakfast person until I started working after college. Then I realized how important the meal was. Now I can't go without eating breakfast!
I am also an oatmeal girl. Now that I am trying to go gluten-free, though, Oatmeal isn't an option… They have gluten-free Oatmeal, but it's really expensive. So I am eating the most RANDOM things. Like yesterday I had some yogurt & a cup of cherry tomatoes. I haven't had time to research GF recipes, but hopefully I can find some breakfast ones. Problem is, I need something QUICK – since I am not a morning person, I'm not the type to get up early enough to cook up an eggwhite omelette. You know? I might try making a big batch of brown rice so I can heat that up in the morning. We'll see.
The experts are right, though – it is so the most important meal of the day. It seems like more women eat breakfast than men, though!
As a new member of WW, I’m realizing the importance of eating breakfast. As a University student, I’m realizing how bloody hard it is to get it into me! Usually I take it on the run, grab a cup of Multigrain Cheerios in a container and munch on them during my morning class and then have some fruit afterwards. If I have the time I’ll have an english muffin with jam before running out the door!
I really enjoy your blog and look forward to reading more of your posts!!
Not a breakfast girl (just not that hungry at 5:30am), but i usually drink soy milk or a latte on the way to work and have a banana and some almonds mid morning. It works out 'cause I pack in the nutrtion for lunch & dinner.
I SO love breakfast, but I just haven’t made any time for it lately…so it has just been PB and toast with milk (which seriously i have eaten for about 3 breakfasts a week since i was 3!!! and i am not sick of it yet!!).
I DO need to make more time for it though during the week, weekends is always one day of bacon and eggs (with hashbrowns and toast) and the next day is porridge or pancakes…Danny is an awesome breakfast maker!!! and we go out about once a month…YuM!!
I am going to make a point of having more time for breakfast this week and I am stealing your ideas to do it!
I LOVE BREAKFAST FOODS TOO!!! We have breakfast anytime of the day!! But in the morning before work we just don’t have the time (we would if Steve would actually get up on time lol). I have a piece of fruit, usually a banana at 5:00-5:30 when I wake up, and then I always have an all bran bar around 10 (which is right now). If I have anymore then that I feel gross and super tired. I also love no fat cottage cheese with fresh blueberries….soooooo yummy!! Or yogurt with berries. Orrr an english muffin toasted with organic peanut butter.
You always have the greatest breakfast idea’s!!

As long as I can remember I have been a breakfast eater, but it’s just recently that I have put so much thought and effort into it. My normal breakfast consists of: Hot water w/lemon, a protein shake, 2 egg whites and oatmeal w/banana, cinnamon, flax seed and peanut butter. I look forward to going to bed at night because I know when I wake up I’ll be having my favorite meal!!
I have ALWAYS loved breakfast.
ALWAYS.
Usually at work, I take an english muffin, fried egg, singles cheese, onions/tomato, tsp of light mayo.. and make a sandwich. SO. SO. Good.
But my weakness?
eggs benedict.
Chunky Hashbrowns.
Breakfast sausages..
*drools*
I LOVE breakfast.
I’m all about eating breakfast. And I always have been. It feels odd for me not to have something almost immediately after I wake up.
Usually I eat cereal (I’m a little obsessed actually). Raisin Bran as of late. But in the past I’ve been partial to Mueslix atop Special K.
Special K with 1% milk is my favorite for a weekday morning breakfast.
I had never stumbled across your blog, but your response to my comment on Twenty Something Writers made me check it out.
I’ll definitely be coming back for more!
I have to eat breakfast too. I can not function w/o it. I like to have cereal, usually special k, almond and vanilla or chocolate protien shakes with 1% milk. And if its the weekends and Kris is home, i will go all out with the eggs benny or traditional bacon and eggs!!
Great blog today, now i am hungry
I LOVE breakfast foods. Pancakes, eggs, you name it. I don’t always love eating them in the morning, though, or my stomach gets upset. I like something light in the morning, like some toast and a piece of fruit. And I’m with you on needing breakfast- sometimes I do miss it because I get up late, but I always feel off when I do. I keep fruit around a lot, so I have something to grab even if I am in a hurry.

I do love breakfast though I sometimes miss it because I am too busy with work. But I usually eat something, even if it is just a bowl of cereal or toast. What I love though is poached eggs, as you mentioned, and more specifically (but not healthfully…) Eggs Benedict! so good, I want it now
I must say, your oatmeal concoction sounds pretty yummy too, I have to try it. and eating breakfast for dinner is very common for me and the bf, especially if we haven’t gone grocery shopping in awhile. I always have fixings for breakfast and it is fast, easy and delish, what’s not to love?
I love breakfast but unfortunately I can’t wake up early enough most mornings to eat it. When I can wake up my favorite depending on my mood. It would be either
French Toast
Lox and Eggs
Greek Omelette (with feta and onions)
During the work week it’s a SlimFast which really does fill me up and lasts for about four hours before I’m hungry, which is just in time for lunch!
On the weekends, I love Raisin Bran cereal with 1% milk and then occasionally Irish and I go out for breakfast or I’ll make us turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, oj, the whole deal.
I detested breakfast in high school mostly because like Eric, I’m not a morning person.
I’ve learned that I’m more energetic, focused and happier if I get to eat breakfast!
Mmmmm I definitely love breakfast too
I could eat breakfast all day
I also just tried the oatmeal and peanut butter and banana and it is SO good! Actually, I like pretty much anything that has peanut butter in it
