Gilmore Girls

Last week was both a success and a failure for me. I only ate good three days and the other four I ate really, REALLY bad. However, on a very positive note I did great again on the workout/training front. I ran 9.5 miles all together (483 to go) and swam 4150 metres. I had an amazing 4-mile run on Saturday, I ran almost the entire way I only had to walk once for about 15 seconds after a big hill and I ran it in 42 minutes so about a 10:50 mile. Anyways, enough babbling about my workouts I think I’ve come up with a solution to my eating problems. Scheduling.

I have my workouts scheduled in my planner. For example, I write down “run 3 miles and 50 minutes of weight” on Tuesday and “swim 1 hour” on Monday, Wednesday. So last night I sat down and planned my meals for this week. I’m eating six times a day and average between 1550-1700 calories everyday. I’m hoping that having it planned and written down on paper will help me stay on track. I’ll keep you updated!

On another note, I had the most relaxing day yesterday. Eric let me use the TV the WHOLE day; this is a very rare thing in our house. Eric is usually watching it or playing games on it. I spent all day yesterday lying on the couch watching Gilmore Girls.

I’ve seen all the seasons and episodes before, I used to watch it every week. But I hadn’t watched it for awhile so when I was at home for Christmas I got the first three seasons from my mom so I could re-watch all the episodes. Was anybody else a fan when it was on the air?
The reason I’m bringing it up is because I’m amazed at the relationship between Lorelai and Rory, even when Rory is only 15 years old. Yes, I know it’s just a TV show but it’s still pretty baffling. My mom and I are really close now but we had a much more tense relationship when I was 15. Our relationship became much better when we stopped living in the same house!

So, I’m wondering, what’s your relationship like with your mother? If you’re a mother what’s your relationship like with your daughter? Have you always been freakishly close like the Gilmore girls?

i used to love that show too! i am very close with my mom and i’m so happy for it. We have gotten closer and closer through the years. I think when you are a younger teenager your mom just is too stressed dealing with you so as you get older you become closer with your mom.

I absolutely LOVE Gilmore Girls! I was the same age as Rory so it was neat for me to see what she was going through with college apps and stuff and be going through the same thing myself. My mom and I have always been super close too - not quite as close as Lorelai and Rory, but she’s always been my best friend. We would watch it together every Tuesday, and even after I went to college, we would both still watch it on Tuesday nights and then call each other after to catch up :)

Oh yes I am in love with Gilmore Girls! They replay an episode M-F on ABC Family and I watch it every single day. I know, its pathetic, but its my guilty pleasure. I have seen every episode, but I still enjoy watching them. I always find myself thinking “why isn’t my mom like Loralei?”

The first few seasons of GG are the best. I’m close with my mom, but we’ve never been best friends like the Gilmores. We don’t talk every day or anything. But I could go to her for anything.

My mom and I had a strained relationship when I was in high school, but we actually bonded and became very Lorelai/Rory because of the Gilmore girls. We would watch the episodes together for a time, and when I moved away we would discuss in the morning before work. Now when I go home to visit things are very Stars Hollow. It’s nice.

I have never watched an episode of the Gilmore girls, but I have heard so many good things about it that I think I need to catch up on it!!!

My relationship with my mom was kind of give and take…we weren’t close necessarily, but I feel like I can tell her almost anything.

Aw I love Gilmore Girls. But sometimes I thought it was kinda cheesy.
Still GREAT though.

And OH HELL NO I’m not very close with my mother. Well at least not like them. While my mom is more my friend now, I am very, very thankful she was my MOTHER back when I was a crazy teen and while we clashed, she didn’t allow me to get away with bullshit. I hated it at the time, I thank her for it now.

Anyway, yes we’re close (although not by distance that’s for sure, Mom’s in Toronto) but we also are VERY different people with some different life experiences. Thus I can’t talk to her about everything I do. We’re close where it matters though.

I never really watched Gilmore Girls when it was on the air but now I would love to get into it! I think I may have to buy the seasons on DVD! So glad I’m done with the teenage years and that now my mom and I are good friends! I’m thinking that maybe every 15-year-old is a brat, that it’s just something you have to go through to grow up? Or maybe that was just me. ;)

I’m pretty close with my Mom, but not as weirdly close as on Gilmore Girls.
