Pets

I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas! I can’t believe it’s here and gone already! I’m taking a hiatus from my ‘lifestyle’ blog tonight after going to see Marley & Me with my family today.

As many of you know, I only recently became a pet-owner myself. I love lil Webby so much. I had pets when I was a kid, but since I lived at home I wasn’t really the one caring for them, it was my parents. Now that I (and Eric) are the sole caregivers for lil Webby, I feel much more attached to him then I ever have any other pet.

I haven’t read the book ‘Marley & Me’ but my mom said it was just like the movie. Basically the movie told the story of John Grogan and his wife Jenny who bought a labrador puppy soon after they were married. Marley is your typical lab and he does all kinds of hilarious things like chewing the furniture, getting kicked out of obedience school and running after other dogs.

What’s especially funny for my family is that my mom has a labrador named Murphy, who looks just like Marley. Murphy has been known to chew and eat everything in sight as well, he can also be quite the challenge to walk sometimes considering he weighs over 100 pounds.

My mom’s pup, Murphy, he’s just about two years old. Doesn’t he look like Marley?

Spoiler Alert: At the end of the movie, Marley has grown quite old and he has to be put down. It was the saddest movie I have seen in a long, long time. I was full-out, tears running down my face, bawling. I wasn’t the only one, a lot of people left the theatre with puffy eyes and red noses. I think almost everyone has had a dear pet die at one point or another in their life.

It got me thinking about how pets are so much more than just animals. They become like a family member. I never pictured myself as a “pet-owner”, one of those people who becomes obsessed with their pet, but after having Webster for only a few short months I already cannot imagine life without him! Especially life in Kamloops, he is such good company for Eric and I and he is so funny and cute! I just love him!

Isn’t he freaking adorable??

I recommend Marley & Me (the movie) to everyone, but make sure you bring some tissues, it’s a tear-jerker! I’m adding the book to my growing list of books that I want to read, it’s pretty much a neverending list.

Have you seen the movie or read the book? Did you like it? Tell me about your pets??
