Thanksgiving

This weekend is Thanksgiving (in Canada) and it will be my first holiday EVER spent away from home. Now, by holiday I obviously don’t mean labour day or something silly like that, I mean the real holidays where families get together for dinners and such! i.e Christmas, Easter and THANKSGIVING!

Its not like I’m ALL alone. I have Eric, my BFF is coming down from GP because her family lives here and my other BFF is coming on Tuesday from Vernon to have a mini thanksgiving with Eric and I. Still, the idea of not being with my mom, dad, grandparents, aunt and cousins (all who will be gathered at my grandma’s house for the big feast) tugs at my heartstrings a little.

Eric tells me its time to break out of the nest, I am 20 years old after all. But its HARD! I miss home every. single. day. I didn’t think I’d miss it this much, but I do. I miss having lots of friends nearby, I miss being near my mom, I miss knowing my way around, I miss being in familiar surroundings. The only thing I don’t miss is the weather, Kamloops has Fort St. John beat by a long shot on that one! The really sad thing is it has been only ONE MONTH and NINE DAYS since I moved away from FSJ and that is the LONGEST I have ever been away from home in my life. As of tomorrow, it will have been ONE MONTH since I last saw my parents and that is the longest I’ve ever been away from my parents in my life!

Go ahead, you can poke fun at me now. I am totally a baby still! I know this is going to be a very busy weekend, I have lots planned plus midterms to study for next week. I wish I was home for Thanksgiving though, end of story. Oh well, I guess this baby birdie has to spread her wings and fly sometime… *sigh*

On another note, I had a job interview at Chapters today! It’s my dream job, I LOVE books, I could and have spent HOURS in a Chapters store. I thought the interview went well, he still had 12 more people to interview though, so who knows…. Cross your fingers for me :-)

Happy Thanksgiving!
