Jobless in Kamloops…

in Kamloops, money

Quick venting blog here.

Why is it so f-ing hard to find a job down here? Eric and I have passed out at least 30 resumes between the two of us, I just passed out ANOTHER eight today, and nothing. Heres the freaky part, I passed out eight resumes today to eight different restaurants and at EVERY SINGLE RESTAURANT that I went to there was at LEAST one other person there at the same time as me dropping off a resume!!!

Is that not insane? How is there possibly more people than jobs? I’ve never had trouble getting a job anywhere else I’ve ever lived (okay, in Fort St John and Grande Praire, which I realize are up north and booming) but still! It’s SOO frustrating, especially when we are slowly running out of money. The real stress factor happened yesterday when all our bills came on the same day, why does that happen? Why can’t they come a few days apart at least… But nope, I walk through the front door after school yesterday, dig out my mail key and proceed to struggle with the rusty mailbox in our apartment building. No sooner have I managed to get it open and whoosh, three thick envelopes come tumbling out at me. Of course, I’m thinking “Ooooh mail!!!” Then I take them in the house and realize it’s not just any mail, its BILLS, the worst kind of mail.

Ack! Anyways, I am just getting incredibly frustrated and stressed about the whole job situation in this city. Sure it’s a beautiful city and has gorgues weather, but the job shortage thing really makes me miss home, where there may be a people shortage but certainly no job shortage. Friday I’m heading to the grocery stores in town armed with my resumes, hopefully I’ll fare better there than at the restaurants. I absolutely will not work in fast food, I’ll borrow money from my parents before I’ll ever step a foot in McDonalds or Dairy Queen as an employee!

*sigh* I’m not going to bother editing this post because I have way to much homework to do. Sorry if its full of grammatical errors and ongoing sentences. I tend to ramble when I’m frustrated.

The last couple days have really made me miss home…
